hard drive and dvd drive not working

i just put togather my new computer and it seems that my hard drive and dvd drive are not getting any power to them, im positive i hooked them up correct, what did everybody use to hook up their cd/dvd drive and hard drive with.

hd: Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 ST3300622A 300GB Ultra ATA/100 7200RPM Hard Drive w/16MB Buffer

dvd+rw: Pioneer DVR-110 / DVR-110D 16X Dual Layer DVD±RW Drive

are they on seperate channels/cables, or are they sharing?

seperate, i just have one of each, one ribbon cable going from dvd drive to motherboard, and the same with my hard drive

we figure there was some miscommunication with a computer tech he talked to, and he hadnt plugged the molexs, so it should be working now
