SHEESH This is a good comp dude! Why u changing it?? Overclock this CPU to 2.8 on the normal cooling, buy another 1Gb of RAM, get a new video card and you're ready for another couple of months! You could even get watercooling and push your comp to its max!

What's wrong with that computer? Apart from the case, it's a decent machine.

its a good little gamming system i usualy overclock when i play bf2/quake4/fear things like that, but i tried to play the new gost recon demo and damm thing was like playing a 386 game even on low settings, low settings are my pet hate.. anyway i also do alot of work other then gamming and looking to go dual core as soon as i can sell this beast, ps the ram is only kingston not the best for overclocking, and if im to water cool i want the ducks nuts, anyway back to case modding lmao i just painted the grills on the side red looks man, and added a nice piccy of a jim beam bottle, just need to get some clear contact, and also stealthed the dvd rom so blends in with the case better

Jesus christ man, how are you OCing?

you _better_ do it in the BIOS.

Anywho, don't sell it. Who cares if ghost recon runs like crap? Just don't play it until you upgrade.

And don't upgarde until the technology is so old you can't even run some simpler games for the timeperiod.

Hell, i am still running my socket 754 3200+ and a X800SE, and it gets the job done =p

Im using a Pentium3 550E MHz overclocked to 787MHz, with 384Mb of crappy PC100 ram, and a Radeon 7500, and Im playing Frozen Throne, Americas Army, Prince Of Persia Warrior Within (crappy, but playable tho Im around 200MHz under the minimums), and Guild Wars, and they are all playable...

Hm? Why dont u keep your computer overclocked to ONE settings? And with this kind of board you should be able to overclock your computer via the bios, and keep it at one fixed speed! Dont overclock via Windows, it aint worth the shot...

Your video cards is a little bit old for your system tho, as I recommended you could get one extra gig of RAM, overclock this beauty of CPU, and put a brand new 7800GTX in it... your 6800GS (thats what you have, right?) is a little bit retarded for gaming... with a new video card you should be all set up for another couple of months...

A 6800GS is in no way retarded for gaming, it faster than a GT and it can play all the new games, it supports SM3 so its got future in it. Its made using 110nm manufacturing process so it consumes little power and is heavily overclockable, mine runs at overclocked at 528Mhz core and 595Mhz RAM which makes it 1.19Ghz effective! Some frame rates from a mag i bought today:

Res: 1,024 x 768 0xAA 8xAF

56fps average on Quake 4
60fps average on F.E.A.R
55fps average on Need for Speed Most Wanted

I wouldnt buy a 7800GTX until you really need to and at the moment you dont, wait until they either come down in price or your GS really struggles to play the latest games.

Go all out and try to finish as much work that you ccan by ur self until ur stuck on something. One suggestion change the color of the bezel on the dvd drive(even though I think you already said that you did). I have a 6800 GS and it works just fine, you could maybe say this when the new Far Cry comes out, then it will be a different story. Also they just came out with a new video card better than the 7800GTX.

Just upgrade the Video card to a 256MB 7900GT, and you should be fine for gaming. Upgrade the cooler to a pure copper one with heat pipes, then crack up the overclock.
