So I got a super old terian series 3000 VIP server tower for free. In great condition. Nothing inside except old floppy cables ( remember 5.25" floppy drive connectors???)
I'd like to rename this the monster, and rename my current server tower as monster jr.
But I need some ideas !! Only thing I can think of is cut a design into the side, paint, and use the holes as a fan grille. This tower is huge, so water cooling is in the works.
Most interesting? It has a TURBO button! What can I do with THAT?!
Here are some pics

So as you can see, I have lots of room to play with. Guitar shown to show monstrous size.
Any thoughts?

I'm not quite sure, but...awesome case!
It looks like the case will require some amount of modification to fit an ATX motherboard into it.

Motherboard tray holes look about right... I hope I don't have to modify them. Haha

i don't have any specific ideas, but as big as it is, it needs lots of external leds and some sort of future-retro paint job.

While on the toilet, (isn't it amazing how many good ideas u get there??) I figured I could wire in the turbo button to boost up fan speed or wire it to some strobe lights or something.

You should wire up the turbo button to toggle a stable overclock. That would be awesome!
I'm also thinking that someone needs to bring back the look Defyant defined in his mods.

Well, there are a few ways I think it could be done. You could either get an MSI board with an overclocking button on it already. There are quite a few on the market now with current hardware.
You could also get a programmable USB button and program that to overclock the PC, and then modify the button to be the turbo button on the case.

Most of the mounting points should be good, but you'll have to cut a hole in the back to mount the I/O shield.

I was gonna say that, too. It looks like it was originally designed for a huge AT motherboard.
Also, I'm pretty sure that turbo switch is a toggle switch.

Tore into it and sure enough the mobo lines up but need 2 more standoffs with a small thread I haven't seen before... Time for frys or dig into the old IBM 1987 server I have in my shed..
The backplate is removable, so i can cut easily or just hack in a back plate from another computer.
Maybe I should just trade for a power Mac g5 case and mod that. Hahah
Personal opinion: While a G5 tower is fun to do, it's been done a lot. This is a unique server tower.

Agreed. This case is much cooler.
