x-fi is what you're looking for. for the life of me i cant remember the specific model... i thinks its called extreme music... but the lowest model is below $150.

ive heard that the card has random issues like incompatibility for no apparent reason, and ive also heard that creative hasnt done anything to fix these issues. i dont know anyone personally who is having those troubles... but just be warned that even though the x-fi series is awesome, dont expect to have everything go according to plan.

I'm pretty sure this is the card he is talking about: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16829102188 I haven't had any experience with it, but all the reviews seem pretty positive.

yea, ive heard it actually raises frame rates a bit 2-8, no big deal. But for 3dmark junkies its a must

I've got it and love it. I've got the Platinum version which is a must if you run home theatre from your PC.

The best thing you can do for gaming is a 5.1 or 7.1 sound card and speakers. I would suggest the creative series speakers(You can use thumbtacks to mount them to the wall). As for your sound card, I think the other guys pretty much answered that one.

Stick with a well known company and you won't run into many problems. Creative Labs or Turtle beach are the only 2 sound card companies I ever consider for any gaming/music builds I do.
