Hi I'm going to get a 7900GT and I was just wondering what VIVO is and if it is worth getting a GPU that supports it.

Well i can get the XFX 7900GT 256MB DDR3 XXX Edition - 560/1650MHz for $559 AUS or the XFX 7900GT 256MB DDR3 550MHz/1630MHz VIVO for $549 AUS. I was going to go for the more powerfull one but the VIVO model looks sooooo cool so I thought I would check.

if you really want that extra little bump on the core and mem clocks, you could alwas just OC it, but then again, its such a fast card already, youre never going to notice the differance in real world gaming anyways. although you may get a few extra points on 3dmark though. if i were you, id go with the vivo version, i didnt think id use it when i got it with my card, and i actually find it quite useful.

ive never had a vivo card but i think you can plug in aux devices like camcorders to watch them on your tv or play video games on ur moniter. Please correct me if im wrong

well, the vivo option on my card gives several options for video out, and several for video in. basically via a 9 pin adapter that came with my retail card, i have the options of HDTV/S-Video out and Comp./S-video in.eyesore is right about using a camcorder, i actually use mine as a webcam on ocassions. other uses would involve taking old home videos from a vcr and digitally capturing them and converting them to dvd, and using your tv as a monitor

Cool. Thanks for all your help. I'll go with the VIVO edition.

if you have Windows media center edition then you should be able to use that with your Vivo to record TV simmilar to tivo. I have Media Center edition but no tv tuner yet so I can't testify to how good it is right now.

i hate to run off on a tangent, but what are the differances between xp home and media center edition?

I think media centre edition is more of the editing software and people use it a lot for home theatre pc's. I have hpme and it works fine.
