As some may have heard, I'm working on building a 3D printer (although currently progress is very slow since my income sucks currently for lack of a better word) and working on a Reprap Prusa i3 with my own twists thrown in for good measure. Today I hit a sort of milestone, I actually printed off the corner pieces for the printer (something I'd been wanting to do for months) and I also did a timelapse video, so in the future, I'll be able to have a collage of videos and me assembling the printer.

Anyway, here is the video I took today:

Sweet! Congrats on starting your printer! I will be checking back often! Check out what I have been printing on my Lulzbot A0-100!

Thanks, it will be a good project and I'm already planning on making another 3D printer for some experiments! It was cool flicking through your 3D prints gallery!

I printed off some more parts yesterday:

Be sure to check out the video description!

Nice Video! I actually have an entire PrintrBot LC sitting in my closet un assembled. I bought it just before I found out Lulzbot was going to sponsor my site. I am going to build it in the next few weeks and set up a printing service on my site.

My printer has progressed pretty well since I last updated it:

I had to reprint the Y corners sadly :(

I also have completed the X axis parts and mounted them, here's the first of the 3 time lapses I'll be uploading soon:

And of course, the printer so far:

looking good! those are some clean prints!

Reasonably clean, although it's usually that once the print starts, it's fine but it's getting it started properly that can be the issue. I've left those attempts in some of the videos but due to the short battery life (And the fact I can't find the propriety charger for it), I can't always do that.

Whoops, should have posted these videos as well:

There has sadly been no more 3D printer parts printed as I'm waiting to make sure I can print and use them than find out that I've printed them and wasted filament. I'm due to order some parts in the near future so I can finish building this printer reasonably soon.

Well since the site is back, thought I'd do a quick update.

The good news is that the printer is almost completed! The bad news is that the printer hasn't progressed for some time now, mainly due to limited time (since getting a new job) and limited motivation to work on it (which is strange since I really want it finished and only have to solder a few more wires). But I hope before too long, it will be finished and printing!

I also plan on making my own electronics for the printer, which should be interesting!

Neither can I! Going to try to finish it off this weekend. :)

Quite a bit of progress over the past week. Mainly the printer is now operational, although more calibration still needs to occur. The main part of today was trying to get all of the parts operational, and after a small hiccup with a wire melting (there was 2 wires but one broke causing all the current to flow through the one), all parts have been tested now. It's only hours until I can do my first print.

Yesterday I did my first time lapse (and before flying up to Sydney too) with my printer. Expect more time lapses too and a wrap up in the next month or so as I figure out how much I actually spent on the printer! So glad I got the award from my uni so I could afford this, it's really helped me in a lot of ways.
