is it me, or does anyone else think my generation, and the newer ones are getting more and more retarded every year?
all these stupid challenges, and shock videos.
some lady has 72 million views from a video titled "sitting on the toilet"
and that is what it is about...

apparently, now there is the condom challenge.

WTH is up with this? seriously, when i was a kid, the most stupid thing we did was climb tall trees and tie cables to the top to make tree swings, or jump off cliffs into rivers....
now adays its all about sitting at home doing stupid things....

I don't feel like watching the video, but can respond to the rest.

I think there have always been a lot of dumb people out there, and as such they have stupid ideas. The difference is that these dumb people now have ways of sharing their stupid ideas on the internet so that the other morons can be inspired to new levels idiocy.

I'll say, however, that the internet is also a place where the smart people can share ideas as well. I've always enjoyed making things, but it wasn't until ~2003 that I discovered internet forums where other makers came together to share what they do.

I would say the worst thing about the internet is the way that kids are now growing up in the public eye. We've all done dumb things in the past, but when you were a kid it was a dumb thing you did and nobody saw it or knew about it but you and your friends. If you had juvenile feelings or opinions about something, you talked about it with your friends and later you grew up and so did they. Now, all of this stuff is publicized and permanent.

I see my little brother posting things on facebook and feel embarrassed for him sometimes. He doesn't realize that a few years from now he'll look back and regret posting those things. It's not that his feelings and emotions aren't legitimate, it's just that publicly talking about it and creating a permanent record is really inappropriate. I think we'll see after all these people grow up, that their children will mature much faster and be much more aware of what to do and not to do online, because their parents will have learned those lessons the hard way.
