I do not know if anyone has done this before, but something sprung to my mind when I dusted out my old Logitech Wingman 2 joystick. As I am waiting for the end of the month to start a project, I am exploring many ideas, and right now I am looking for a creative on/off, reset and activity LEDs panel. When I fished out the joystick I was like "Hey, I can maybe put this to use", so I went in my shop and immediately took the thing apart to have a look at the switches, I tested each one by hooking it up to an old power switch cable and it worked, my computer turned on and off. So now I am thinking: "Do I really want a joystick sticking out of my case? Or can I somehow make it smaller and have only the top of it?" Well anyway, here is how I plan on proceeding:

By the way, the purple should read "Take out the buttons and place the PWR LED and the HDD LED.
Please give me your feedback!!

why dont you just not chop is to peices, althogth we all know how much fun it is to do so. you could leave the joystick and base intact, but still rewire the buttons to turn on your computer, this way when someone else(i dont know if oyu have siblings or nosey parents or what) tries to turn on your computer, they would never suspect the switch was on the joystick. unless of course, you went and told everyone about your cool new joystick power button. you could even add stuff, like fan switches/knobs or, depending on the size of it, even an lcd screen, like one of those matrix orbital ones. i actually like this idea so much, i might do something like this to my old broken sidewinder. whatever you do though, take pics.

EDIT: if its not native usb, you could even make it so you can plug/unplug it at any time if you ever have gotten a sound card or mother board with one of those gamport brackets. you would just need to find out what color wire on the cord goes to which pin number on the port itself.

You could keep it in tact and make the joystick part into a mouse.

Well I already ripped the base apart (it feels good to let out your aggression against technology), the thing is that I go to LANs a lot and I don't want such a huge thing sticking out the case, so I think I will just use the top part with the buttons. I will post pics though.

EDIT: Nah, I am in serious need of a PWR and RST panel.

Not a good idea to leave it intact, what if you'Re in the middle of a tourney of CS:S and your 3 years old cousin sees the joystick? We all know what kidz + joysticks = lots of fun, even without games, but in this case....
