I have been putting a little $$ away for a while and I'm ready to build a new system. I'm trying to keep it under $1100, and will most likely order everything from Newegg. I have decided to go with the AM2 just because it seems logical. Here is what I am looking at, but would like to hear what you all have to say about it, or have a better idea.

CPU:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Windsor 2000MHz HT Socket AM2 Processor (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16819103735) $297.00
MotherBoard:
ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI MCP ATX AMD (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16813131013) $149.99
RAM:
OCZ 1GB (2 x 512MB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Unbuffered Dual Channel Kit (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16820227082) $114.99
Video Card:
eVGA 256-P2-N564 Geforce 7900GT KO 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16814130015) $273.99
Hard Drives:
Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 SATA NCQ 3Gb/s ST3160812AS 160GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16822148105) $69.99
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3320620AS (Perpendicular Recording Technology) 320GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16822148140) $124.99
Optical Drive:
LITE-ON 16X DVD±R DVD Burner W/ LightScribe (http://www.newegg.com/product/Product.asp?item=N82E16827106019) $38.99

Grand total is just under $1090 (including shipping), not including about 45 bucks in rebates, but I never count those until I have the money back.

Thanks!

What about the monitor and other perpherials? I mean a fast rig is great but if your having a misrable time controlling it whats the point ya know? Also, what are you doing for sound and the more importantly the PSU?

I already have the monitors.. Dual AG Neovo 19" LCD's so I didn't include them in my list. As for controls I have this mouse (http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/showpost.php?p=30108&postcount=13), and for keyboard I have an MS Multimedia kb that does me ok. I have been debating on getting the G15 but that can come later.

For sound I have a SB Live or it has the onboard. I have been looking at the Creative X-FI, but its not something that is a show stopper for the system, so I will pick something up later.

Powersupply is a good question. I was given a CompUSA gift card that I was thinking about using for it the power supply since there is really nothing else that I want to buy from them. I am looking for something quiet. A friend of mine just got a 500W Antec and he said it was really quiet, so thats probably what I will end up with. On the quiet topic. I am also debating whether I want to water cool it or just go with some nice Zalman air coolers. But thats a decision I can make later when I get some more cash.

Anybody got any experience with the following power supplies. I'm looking for something pretty quiet, doesn't have to be silent.
So far I'm looking at these:
Antec TRUEPOWERII TPII-550 550W Power Supply - Retail (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817103931)
COOLMAX "SLI" CXI-500B ATX v2.01 500W Power Supply 115/230 V - Retail (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817159054)
SILVERSTONE SST-ST50EF ATX12V 500W Power Supply - Retail (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817256001)

I'm trying to stay in the $100 range. If anybody has a better suggestion, I would really appreciate it..

Thanks

Thanks.. I guess I totally missed that due to I didnt look over 500W. Great choice. It is a little over what I was looking to spend but 3 12V Rails, 550W, Quiet, AND its modular. Looks like I'm ready to order. :)

Thanks again.
