Sometimes you got to take a couple of steps back to move forward...

Welcome to the somewhat leaner BestCaseScenario! We want to thank all of you for your patience with us, while we got this all sorted out. We had a few problems to overcome, and we were able to get things back on track. You will notice that there are some sections missing. Basically they were under utilized areas that were just dead weight.

We have updated forum software and there will undoubtedly be some issues we will come across. So we appreciate again your patience and information when you come across one. Also there were some issues with the previous backups. We did lose some information in the process, so all of you with projects may be missing posts after June 9th. I apologize but this could not help, believe me I tried all I could.

I hope many of you return to posting normally, because I have really missed you all. I am looking forward to seeing the progress you all have made on projects, and what you all have been doing. So....

Lets start posting some THREADS!!!

I was so very worried that this community had ceased to exist when I could no longer access the web page, but I am very glad to see that it had returned, and with a very nice new visual appearance, as well! I am very happy, indeed! :D

Should we create rules about them?

It's great that TBCS is back, a while back I thought that I haven't been to TBCS for a while and went to go visit... and I couldn't!

Biggest change for me since I last posted on TBCS... I got a full time job in RnD at a lift company! Working on microcontrollers and developing their firmware.

You have to admit it though. It really was liberating to get rid of all those danged floppy disks. I saved a few of them to image files just in case I feel like building a virtual machine of the old junk. All of my old software CD's will be the next thing to go.

Edit: I mis-read your title. Floppy drive is WAY obsolete my man. Those things were always one of the first things to break down back in the day when they were a necessity. I'm living the floppy free life now and it's all good.

Heh, xpirate.

Mjne is mainly referring to the fact that I solely use floppy drives to make music with.

Thanks for the congrats billygoat333 and msmrx57. It's definitely good to be in a full time job now instead of government payments. Anyone who (Australia at least) think government payments are easy money and not stressful in anyway needs to try it. The agency f***ed up stuff 3 times. Once when I went to go move to another type of payment, twice when they booked an appointment to solve the stuff up when moving me to another type of payment, and the last time (and still hasn't been resolved) was when they told me that I was no longer a student back in March (they never actually told me this when they apparently found out) and I never told them this change, and that I shouldn't have been getting the payment I was getting. The real kicker was when I pointed out I told them everything back in December and they didn't act on that to move me to a different type of payment, they were still trying to act as if it was my fault, until they discussed it with a colleague the next day. I haven't heard back since from them, but I know it's only time before they contact me again probably wanting money paid back (which will make life even more fun than it is).

EDIT: Sorry, that got a bit ranty very quickly... almost 2 months later and I'm still pissed off about it all.

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing that. I love experimentation in new techniques and scratch builds. There are too many run-of-the-mill, off the shelf, high budget builds these days.

Every morning when I came into work I would hit the TBCS button and stare as I got a server not found error. Every morning...

I gave up for a week or so, not wanting to see that page again. My heart was heavy, my eyes near tears. I developed a nervous tick that would manifest itself every time my mouse cursor passed over the button in my toolbar. This morning as I fired up my normal sites, my finger twitched as the cursor passed over that long unused button and i inadvertently clicked on the familiar logo and was greeted with a great surprise!

Great work in getting the site back up! Let me know how I can help.

I've been working on a few things and just had a couple of custom bezels go to production! I only have the pdf file to show them, so I need to export to an image and I will share.

BTW: I just got a promotion. I am now the CTO of my company. I am still doing basically the same thing, just a title recognition now...(wish it was a raise too). The only added task is more meetings with customers. For some reason my boss thinks I am a great speaker and interface well with customers...

Thanks again for helping me to eliminate that nervous tick!

And life became more interesting tonight. The government agency (See this post for more info: http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/showthread.php?31713-We-re-Back!&p=377049&viewfull=1#post377049) sent me a letter asking for the money they paid me back since I wasn't meant to be getting it, pretty sure it's not allowing for the fact I should have been getting a different type of payment, this means it's not exactly a small amount. Got to go through the appeals process now to get the amount reduced then work out a payment plan with them. Also means that my plans for the future are going to be delayed once again (moving into a bigger place than a 1 bedroom unit, saving up for a car and trying to get a ring to propose) which I think is the hardest thing to think about currently.

So you're loving the new government too then....

This matter isn't related to the new government, nor is this probably the best place to discuss that matter since I recall TBCS has(or had?) a no politics policy. The current problem actually started back in December last year, and only got contacted start of August about it.
