Monday at 10AM Pacific Standard Time Valve will update this site with something (http://store.steampowered.com/livingroom/). From the site it looks like that first circle on the left will become a clickable button.

Current internet speculation is that it might have something to do with Steambox hardware, but I have a feeling that it will be something like Steam Workshop for Big Picture mode, with people able to make updates for games to make them easier to play with a controller and to Big Picture mode itself.

What are your thoughts? Are you excited? Do you have any predictions of your own?

My first thought was something about steambox looking at the link. Will be interesting to see considering the little things we've heard about Valve not wanting to give the resources to the steambox project.

I don't think it will be a hardware announcement. It would be awesome, especially if they had something coming out this holiday season to compete with XBone, WiiU and PS4, but I just don't think they are like Apple in that way.

"We will be selecting random people to beta test HL3 in the living room!" XD

First announcement is SteamOS (http://store.steampowered.com/livingroom/SteamOS/). Next announcement in 48 hours. I'm pretty excited about this.

If I can get my HTPC fixed I'll probably try and see if I can't get all my movies integrated into SteamOS instead of XBMC. There's just so much that's good about XBMC, so I might end up launching XBMC through steam on SteamOS. We'll see.

So you would run XBMC on your desktop and stream the feed to your htpc? I feel like this would be annoying if you had your SO using say... The HTPC, while you're trying to play games or do other work while on your desktop. Or did I miss a feature.

Ooooh... 48 hours after each release, it seems!

No, SteamOS is Linux based, and Valve has said that they don't want to lock anyone down. So I would install SteamOS and then add XBMC as a non-steam game to my library and launch it that way.

Well with the way it seems valve wants to go it would appear you no longer will need XBMC or other things like mediabrowser etc to manage and stream all of you music and movies etc.

I really hope I don't. I would love to have everything in a unified system.

2nd Announcement is Steam Machines.

Beta signup is open now. I can't wait to see what the hardware looks like. In beta it will probably just be a box with the software pre-installed, but who knows, maybe it will be more like the final product.

This is making me excited for the final announcement and as much as I would love to get in the beta I doubt I will even though for this year I've only been using big picture.

Looks like we have a really interesting new controller design.

I've been wanting to get a few Xbox controllers for PC, but now that they've announced that controller I think I'll wait.

And I've just finished working on an original Xbox controller to my PC.

(Slightly off-topic, but I now need a new name for my computer, as ModCron is for the Micron case......)
