im glad that they decided to go beyond improved graphics with this title. i always like games that allow for variations in the way you approach the missions given to you.

Very nice.. Looks like its gunna take a hoss of a machine to run. Coop play would have been nice but all in all it should be a great game!

Can Halo do this?

That was taken using the Crysis engine, utilizing some of the new shader techniques in DirectX 10.

The below are in-game shots, as well.

The developers have also said that they have been working hard at producing not just photo-realism but video-realism, with very accurate animation and motion simulation as well as incorporating techniques such as motion blur and advanced AI and reactive environments. Many reviewers who had first-hand accounts at E3 this year all say that they have done a very good job achieving that goal.

I can't wait to see it in action.

I'm not saying the graphics arn't amazing, they are. I just hope the gameplay is as good as the graphics.

heh, I know. It's so easy to get caught up in pretty pictures and forget about that part of the game. I'm confident that these guys know what they are doing, though - FarCry was a brilliant game (well, the first half, anyway :p ) and it was their first real game to come out of that company. They learned a lot in the process, and hopefully this one will be as fun, if not better.

Remember this. You wont see video like that on your machine with out one of thoes expencive grafix cards & rare physics cards.

Very very true thats why you update ur system when the game comes out :) If you havethe money that is, but the fact that processors are going to go down because of the new intel dual core duo and the new Athlon.

From what I've been reading about DX10, it will have support to do a lot of your physics processing using your graphics cards, especially if you are running in SLI/Crossfire. THe physics processing stuff is still very much in its infancy, a lot like we saw when graphics cards first came out. Expect to see a lot of competing formats and protocalls in the first few years, with a clear leader or two finally taking over most of the market after that.

From what i've been hearing is that sli/crossfire cards wont work with a physics unit. At least untill they come out with tripple PCI-e sloted mobo's. So there could be a slight trade off.

thats a tricky one.... i dont know how many people saw it, but microsoft announced they were hiring for a direct-physics project. this means directx10 will incorporate physics at least in later updates if not immediately. it remains to be seen if this direct physics method goes with physx or sm3.0+... im betting physx because there were some rumours about it and well... the 360 uses ageia's physics api.

sli/crossfire cards wont work with a physics unit

this depends on what you intend to use the video cards for. if you use the video cards for physics, it means the game uses havok fx, and then the physx card wont be supported. if you plan on just going dual card for video, and using the physx card for physics, that means the game is one that uses the physx api, and you cant use video cards to do physics even if you wanted to. its an either-or situation where the game either uses havok's sm3 method, or ageias physx method. im sure you could have a system that can do both... three video cards and a physx card, but i doubt there will be games that will use both at the same time. it would be very odd to have two physics engines running simultaneously.

yeah, Slug basically nailed it. Thanks.
