First and foremost, I would like to thank everyone who contributes to this forum. It is a great place to get inspired.
As for my question can I use a mini audi jack and mini audio plug to provide current from my psu (by using the wires from a molex) to power an LED or Fan? If this is possible, what things should I be aware of when using them? Would they be "hot-swapable"?
My idea is this:
I am planning a mod with interchangable LEDs on the inside and the outside. I would like to use a "quick connect" system with the mini audi jacks or rca jacks.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Any suggestions/alternative methods are welcome!
Respectfully,
Jason

That should be possible, assuming you have the skills to make the system. Just ensure that all the LED's use the same value of resistor.

Thank you for the quick reply! So, I should not have any issues with melting audi jacks? LOL!
Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that won't be an issue. A guy called Jon, who doesn't seem to be arround anymore, did something similar before, and someone else...I think the computer was called Metropolis RED... used audio jacks for molexes, unless i've got confused with another mod.

defyant has used stero connector things(cant think what they are called) in his mods for hot swappable lighting, should work the same with a audio plug

Thank you both for your replies! Outstanding!
Respect~!
*Update - Metropolis RED was the design (thanks DaveW!). Im gonna try something slightly different, so I am not rehashing his design. But I do like it!

this may be a bit late, but do you mean something like in the orac3 mod?

one thing! before you buy them, make sure they are not full metal.. i made that mistake.. i use this connectors seldomly now and only if the connections is more permanent.. else: shorts if not carefull, psu shuts down.. so, they look good, but be carefull... RCA jacks, like those used by defyant are best.. u should use those..

Yeah that would be super easy to do. My brother makes his own car kits for cd players and its basicly the same procedure.
One note of caution however: When assembling the lights and plugs you'll have to make sure you wire them up identicaly. Some led's only work with the polarity going in one direction. If you mix them up then they wouldnt be "hot swapable".
