Anyone seen this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0ODskdEPnQ) before? I didn't know if it was a joke at first or not. In fact...i'm still uncertain.
I wouldn't trust myself with this at all.

It acutally looks like a nice piece of engineering, but as usual will probably not make things any easier.

i saw that it made the front page of [H]OCP the other day, i thought it was hilarious, i honestly think it would be more complicated to use that system as opposed to using your average desktop with folders etc. but it was still fun to see a desktop rendered in 3D giving you the ability to throw documents around and crumple them up.

I think it'll work, but only if you have a proper input device. Like a touchscreen or some kind of tablet...
I really like the idea
I don't think it's fake. Personally I'd like to see the affect done with touchpads.

wow thats amazing.. agreed it would have to be done with touch pads but its only for documents. what about every thing else. well it would probably make things hareder to use but. its sweet
thats sweet. I could just play with that all day.

YOu know, it is a novel concept but I don't see the practicallity of it. You can't see the file names easily, you can't quickly sort by name, creation date or file type, it doesn't show thumbnails of images, and it seems like it would just make searching for a single document in a large archive a tedious experience.
Nevertheless, I always enjoy seeing innovations like this, as they frequently end up influencing change for the positive in the dominant UIs. Nice find, Dave.

I know i'd just end up with piles of PDF's from my lectures stacked everywhere...past papers littering the corners, photos in stacks left right and center...
My Brothers computer would probably look like a dumpster filled to the brim with pr0n...(i say pr0n so we don't show up on certain search engines)

They just made a 3d desktop of clutter.
Could you imagine dealing with a fileserver with this gui?
I shudder at the thought.
Although, working inside a database would be much easier. Each record is it's own file or every field is. Just a thought.

I wonder if there will be an add on pack where important docs/files are removed only to be placed back later with smiley faces drawn all over them ala kid brother/sister lol. :D
If it is a joke they've gone to a lot of work for it.

to make it more realistic, stuff should fall off the destop when you push it off the edge :)
