i have sort of a noob question , here is my case.

http://img323.imageshack.us/img323/7866/comp4768x5762mu.jpg

in that picture i have 2 red cold cathodes in my case, yesterday i took one out so now it looks alot less intense like it should. so now it actually looks red and not red orange.

you can see that the red cathode is in the bottom of the case, i was wondering if i had bought a purple one and put it at the top of the case everything would bleed togather right, you know what i meen? like i dont want the red to over power the purpe really. i do have 2 red fans as well though but they are just led.

I think that's the sort of thing you just have to try out i'm afraid.

Unless someone else has done exactly what you describe...

probably AWG 18 or AWG 12.

Or jsut find an old PSU and chop all the wires off...

hey dont extend the wires. not from the converter to the cold cathold. i tryed and i dosent work. you end up getting dimmer lights. if you wanna put the CC somewhere else velcrow the converter out of site. it works i did it on mine. just thought ifd let you know.

u wont see much light from the uv, they're made for the sole purpose of making things glow in computers.

p.s. i liked the way ur comp looked before u took out the other cc

You could get a white cathode and cover it in a translucent purple wrapper, coating, etc. Just find some of that purple gift wrap stuff and use it to cover the white light. Tada! You have purple.

do you think the purple wrapping stuff will melt or no?

If you use the film stuff that is on stage lights, or something to that effect it shouldn't melt. That stuff is mean't for putting over lights, and those are a lot brighter and higher powered than a cathode. I wouldn't be worried about it if I were you. Read Crimson's book. It talks about it in there.

It won't melt, cold cathodes produce little heat. The package of my ACRyan CCLF's said the generate less heat than a HDD...

exactly, on most packages of ccfl's it says they're extremely low heat, even gift-wrap should work

Where are you getting the cathodes? If you're getting white, www.xoxide.com has a dual cathode package (12 inch) for like $8.00 I think.

Edit: Yeah, $7.99, heres the link.

No problem. I'm probably getting a set of those too soon so I've been shopping around quite a bit lately.

www.frozencpu.com sells single cathodes, but they're like $9.00 I think, so you would probably be better off buying the 2 from xoxide and only using one. If you can do that, which I think you can. But, frozencpu sells a purple cold cathode, but from the picture it doesn't look all that purple to me.
