Note: This is not a competition!
A lot of the folks on this site, i've noticed over time, have quite an interest in photography. So I though i'd start a little photography thread, so we can post photos of things that have inspired, or could inspire, a custom computer.
I'll start off with some photos I took: some people find inspiration in fast cars, in sleek, elegant design, but for me, it's always clunky and rusty industrial devices or decrepit pieces of technology. You'll see what I mean in a minute.
So how this works: every photo must be your own. Post your photos here, try to keep them no larger than 640*480, and people can drop in and comment on your technique, your choice of subject, the overall photo, and how much of an influence it makes. Your subject can be anything except another mod-try and make it interesting things, not easy targets like the inside of your computer with a close-up lens. Also, write a little note with each of your photos, telling how you took it, zoom factors, exposure settings, lens, and why you think this influences anything.
So I'll start. These photos were all taken on a Panasonic DMZ-FZ3 Lumix with Leica lens.

This thing was huge. That other bulldozer behind it, which looks far away? It's not. It's RIGHT behind it. This hulking Behemoth had to be photographed. Taken normally with about 6* optical zoom. Large, High Quality version avaliable on e-mail.
http://thebestcasescenario.com/davew/Photography/2.JPG
Although it's probably the worst photo out of the 8 i've chosen to start with, the air of decrepidness surrounding this photo, that made me think of dust and dreams and wasted time, I just couldn't exlude it. Taken normally with a 2* optical zoom. Hi Quality Avaliable on request.
http://thebestcasescenario.com/davew/Photography/3.JPG
This is a silage pump, I think. It looks interesting, I thought it might influence some interesting watercooling features. Taken normally with a 4* optical zoom. Hi Quality Avaliable on request.
http://thebestcasescenario.com/davew/Photography/4.JPG
Good rusty edges are hard to find these days, and a lot of folks go out looking for them. This peice of rusted metal was a sort of corroded holy grail. Taken with normal mode, no zoom. Hi Quality Avaliable on request.
http://thebestcasescenario.com/davew/Photography/5.JPG
This fan would certainly make an interesting case mod feature: I'm actually planning to use this on my fallout mod to make it look more realistic. Taken normally with no zoom, HQ avaliable on request.
http://thebestcasescenario.com/davew/Photography/6.JPG
I also found this burned out computer in that dumpheap. It's been burned and lleft for the harsh Scottish elements. I have multiple HQ photos if you want to see this. I would have kicked it open, but it was melted inside. Taken normally with no zoom.
http://thebestcasescenario.com/davew/Photography/7.JPG
I don't know what this thing is, but it reminded me slightly of the Citadel from HL2. It looked pretty cool. This was taken in VERY adverse weather conditions, and this is the best quality avaliable. Taken with a 12* optical zoom in 70-120mph winds. You can imagine trying to keep the camera steady ;)
http://thebestcasescenario.com/davew/Photography/8.JPG
Finally, this was on the wall of a peir near a lighthouse. It's an interesting little thing that i'm considering using on the integration Stage 1 case. It's rusted from salt water but it still looks good. Again, adverse conditions, normal mode, no zoom. This is the best quality avaliable.
That's all from me today, feel free to comment, and of course, add your own! Keep the banter on-topic and intelligent please. The mods will crack down on you if you can't manage this.
Good luck, and happy browsing!
-Dave

Just resize them. Download FastStone Image Viewer (http://www.faststone.org/download.htm). It's free, not a virus, no spyware blah blah blah - and its the best program I've ever used. It handles anything you could ever really need. It does file conversions, resizings, watermarks, bulk image processing, all of the above. Definately worth the download.

I'm not sure if it is just that those images are shrunk down, but they seem to have a lot of noise.

I'm not sure if it is just that those images are shrunk down, but they seem to have a lot of noise.
I think its because they have been resized and they are JPEG, stupid photobucket, 1+hours of uploading then says ome files corrupt, was uploading 19 and its only done 8! sooo annoying.
Well heres some of mine i will slowly add more( some are linked too because they are too big): Taken with Kodak CX6630. Can't give optical zoom, doesn't tell me.

I understand it's a pain, but Dave's a mod and he clearly laid down the rules. 800x600 would crap up the page, no matter how good of photos they are.

Scotty, my girlfriend came up with a nice idea for that tree photo-imagine having a matt black case with a tree cut out in the side, a motherboard cover, and a strong light behind it...clear plexi...can you imagine it?
She says the photo's beautiful, and i agree. Nice one!
Oh, and the bottom 2 photos were taken in Berwick upon tweed. The top were taken at Oatridge Agracultural college in Eccleshmechan. (You will not believe how often we've argued about the pronounciation of that word!)
Oh, and as i said, all the photos have been shrunk with Microsoft Picture editor bar the last 2, which were taken in very high winds and have a lot of 'natural noise' i.e. sand particles, water particles, etc. If you're interested in the full sized pics drop me and e-mail either at the best case scenario or at my google mail address (warndave@googlemail.com).
Thanks for the feedback guys.

Slacker, I forgot you are from NYC. Those are some cool pics. I especially like the chairs. I may be moving to NYC after I do EMT training. My gf lives about an hour north of NYC so I figure it would be close to her. I'll have to try and get in touch and have a meetup when I go up there next.

Some more photos: this time, some night time photography.
http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/davew/Photography/9.JPG
This one looks a lot better in the full Hi-Res version. I don't think i managed to capture the sense of absolute silence in this busy industrial area, but i tried. Let me know what you think. I think this could make an interesting reservoir feature. This was taken with a very long exposure time, and then photoshopped a little to help make it easier to see. As usual, HiRez abvaliable, not only that but i have one that's zoomed in and HiRez for that extra detail. The reason there's so much red in the sky is because of Glasgow's old Sodium Streetlamps, which are a bright orange colour. When you see it for real...you'll know what i mean!
http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/davew/Photography/10.JPG
This one is a bus which i cycle past fairly often. I wanted to a take a night photo of it in order to highlight the desolation, the isolation, of the item in question. I don't know if i like this one yet, but let me know what you think. Again, long exposure in low light, photoshopped afterwards, HIREZ avaliable on request. There's a lot of features that can be taken from this.
Thanks guys, i want to post the most inspirational photos on the front page, so when you give us a photo, don't forget to write a little bit on why you think it might inspire a case for someone, or even just a feature. Thanks!
-Dave

Wow Ranken. I've done mini painting in the past and that's some good work.
Aero, where is that streetlight at? That's a very strange look.

DaveW thats an awesome shot!
I think that in your case the ambient orange glow works, but try living down south where every single light is bright orange at night. You simply cannot take night photographs here as they just turn out orange. we can only see about 10 stars on a clear night sky because of the light pollution from the streetlights!
Im off to get my 10mm sigma lense in about half an hour :D
H
Edit: Doh, only one place in the UK has them in stock so ive had to order it off the net! :(
Aah well it will come tomorrow! :)
