welll...its officially begun...this is coming from my thread in the idea zone (my p180)

i began working last night on the Antec P-180 last night...gotten most of wht im going to do planned out.....now comes the execution part of modding :)

first window cut is all complete...it a pretty thick side panel....may help with some problems

thats all i got done last night....

i ran into a problem when i finished though....the measurements i drew down were exact measurements...i didnt give space for mounting a window....

ive got a couple ideas on how to fix this problem...
first would be to take my panel into work and mill out the extra plasic and sheet of metal on the back side and have a flush mount on the back...drill and tap the acrylic for it to hold up....

second option is to mount the acrylic on top of the panel on the outside...and round the edges of the acrlyic..mount it to the top of the panel so the acryl is outside the case.... then bondo around the edges give it a sort of cleaned up around the edges...then drill and tap the case panel

lemme know what you guys think and im open to suggestions on how to mount the acrylic

ok...well....ill try to have an update tomorrow night....but there prolly wont be one for about a week.....i get my wisdom teeth pulled tuesday....so hopefully ill have some crazy dreams about what to do for this case....

good luck with that mobo , me and my freinds have had alot of problems with the premiums, thats why they dont make the premium version anymore

anyways..i got my wisdom teeth pulled yesterday....im not feeling quite as bad as i thought i would

not gonna use any power tools though...just to be safe...

so i started paint the door today....ill have a bigger update from when i last did

tonight was not my night....
i ended up scrapin all the paint off the front door and im gonna start it over tomorrow....but the paint i DID have on there looked real nice

and to fill in some cut marks on the left panel...im gonna go with a rear mounted window instead of mounting it on the outside.... cept when i was cuttin the acrylic...i cracked the section of window i was gonna use (just usin clear till i can get some tinted acrylic)

i think ill be ordering my pump and res and cpu block next

then my PSU

then processor and ram
then some tinted acrylic....dependin on my time frame acrylic will come before processor

got it all primered up i let the primer dry a bit then worked on the windowed panel

then cut out extrea material behind it to mount the acrylic ...which ended up breaking..



about this point is when i got my teeth pulled so i didnt get any pictures...and these are from tonight after i got home from work

i sanded the clear coat with some 1200 then used some rubbing compound

thx... the color does look nice....i was thinkin about just goin with a plain gloss blue.....but when i was shoppin for paint i saw that

im pretty much to the point now where i cant do much more till i buy the water cooling stuff....i think ill go ahead and finish paintin my case then when i order my stuff there wont be tons of work waitin on me to finish for it

go figure.....i start makin some progress on this case....then my camera breaks.... it got accidently knocked off a desk and the lense got jammed....so pics will be on the rare occasion that i can steal my girlfriends camera....but wait....i just thought about usin my cell phone for takin pics...theyll be smaller but ill try to us it to keep you guys updated

I don't think I would cut up a P180. They are such a nice quiet case in their own right. The side planels have noise damepening stuff in them don't they that's why they are so thick. Nice painting btw.

It took me for ever to work out how to upload pictuers from my dad's phone to his PC. Its such a pain to get working.

yeah...it took me a while to bring myself to do it....but then i started considering that i was putting water cooling into it and the fact i got it for only $40 so that made hackin at it a ton easier...

as for the phone software ..my dad bought the motorola stuff and i had it on my other computer.....but i found it works better if you use the usb cable instead of blue tooth

im gonna try and save up and buy me a camera...that or ill find out if a family member has a spare so i can guve you guys an update thats proper....anyways..

ive goten the fan hole in the top all bondo-ed up.... pretty much got all the blue painting done

all i have left to paint blue is the right panel...but thats gotta wait till i get my res mounted and get my plate to transfer in the hoses

but now ive got all the HDD mounts, left panel, inside the case ...havent touched the bottom HDD mount...got a fan painted to see how it looked...it isnt too bad

so all is well with this project.....it hasnt died...just my camera

ahhhh! a modded p180! errr w8. wow i didnt i think you could cut into a p180 with out ruining it since it had 3 layers. looks like ur the first to me. great cutting bro. looks like this beast won't be sound proof anymore.:) post more pics please.

its still gonna be near silent....trust me on that one:)...got water cooling....then a couple ideas for it....ill post pics as soon as i can get a hold of a camera taht can take a nice one....

as for the side panel....the plastic dust helped loosen up the glue between the metal and plastic.....so just gotta put a little glue in there and everything will be perfect again

ok well tonight i got the top window cut....so far...might have the second cut later.....ive got the case 90% painted.....just got a little bit of bondo work and then ill be able to do the black paint...

ill try to convince my grandpa that its a good idea for him to take some pics for me so i can give you guys a photo update

yeah....movin tomorrow...tryin to get a project done for a friend.....ill post pics of it when we get it back together...

my modding in tulsa will be kinda spread into times i can get work done... cuz im movin into an apartment...and they have pretty strict rules there...but im almost to the point where i can go ahead and finish assembly on the computer...gotta order processor and ram...

on a better note...my grandpa gave me his old laptop...its a vaio with a p4 and a gig of ram

and ive already got my transfer to the compusa in tulsa all arranged so there wont be the hassle of lookin for a job when i get there
