since im a newbie whos just recently sprouted an interest in case modding, i have an idea for someone who's very ambitious.

surely everyone has seen event horizon? the film with sam neill and lawrence fishbourne? well anyway, the atmosphere in that film was brilliant and the set design is one of the best i have ever seen for a futuristic background :)

anyhow, i was wondering if anyone would find it an interesting mod to make. i have a few screenies (though small) of the film to give a few ideas of colours, textures and shapes.

those of you who havent seen this door open, it opens very much like the vents in 'Alien' (a sort of circular motion), cept there are only four parts to it

it could perhaps be a drive bay conceiling door? since i dislike a case with drives on show.

also the smaller circles to the left and right would make nice decorative elements to the case

this could be a case window, especially if there are blue LED's or blue case fans inside the machine, and maybe the "sam neill floaty corpse" can be designed onto a transparncy set back from the window, to give a 3 dimensional feel?

or perhaps this could be the case side? if you forget the 3d aspect, and view it in 2d it almost resembles the nVidia logo. the eye style design could be cut into the case, and then the yellow/greeny pattern could be incorperated inside the case somehow.

this could also be drive bay concealer, perhaps building half of it from a side on angle, the 3 offset rings with with leds, and perhaps the sphere at the center would open up in the middle, very much like the airlock doors on the doom3 case mod


anyhow, thats a very minimal elaboration on what id consider a cool idea for a case mod, very industrial yet somehow spooky :)
if anyone would like to bring the case into fruitition then by all means do, but i lack the money, the knowledge, and the tools to perform such a thing.. besides, im not gonna ruin my £215 TJ07 ;)

I like that art and your idea. I dont think i've seen that movie yet. Ill see if i can find it and ill get back to this after i finish watching it.

Definately make for an interesting case theme.. Its basically Gene Roddenberry meets Clive Barker.. heh

The ship had some very interesting visuals that for sure.. looking forward to seeing what this becomes!!

Hmm si fi and case modding come together so well.

Yeah I heard that movie is fair etch. (Scary)

Diffiently do some cool lighting with flashing yellow lights and stuff. Maybe even mount a LED half covered on a little electric motor like on of those DC ones that use to be in marcno sets and such. And have it spining around like a warning light when the case is starting up.

i couldnt find a picture of the event horizons chambers, which are black frames with green liquid. these are identicle in shape and design. you can see one in the back and to the right of this picture.

i might draw some concept art. but until i get the tools to do such things them im afraid this is nothing more than wishful thinking

i was wondering on how i could install an LED that lit intermitantly when starting up. you know like those dodgey lightbulbs you get :P add a sort of "is it broken" feel to it. only a few LED's though the rest should wor straight away.

i have a design for the front of the case ill upload the sketch in a bit, but ill do some photoshopping on it.

probably cause interference, but you could use one of the mini flourescent lights like they use in camping lanterns...

ok heres my sketch of the bottom half of the pc

ok, the fan at the bottom is an 80mm intake surrounded but a 120 designed bezel. all the design has been taken from that image as you can see. The two semicircles are "folded over" in a sense, as the other half continues on the other side, and i would have a mesh installed in the gap, it would also have a Green LED and a Yellow LED shining through each side. The Fan would be green. around te fan you can see LED's these would be really dim and white. You can see on the left how the "eye" shaped design follows around to the side of the case. this will happen on both sides. Im not sure how i want my drive bay to be yet.

i would probably do this as a custom panel/stealth drive (just forget theres a floaty corpse there ;P)

it would be plexi and the drive would be installed a little further back than normal as i would plan on having the window sunk into the case, it would also be LED'd with blue.

any suggestions? as i plan to make this one of these days

okidoke, did this using that google etch-a-sketch thing everones been going about, its very good, but not very user friendly, took me about six attempts to get the fan right :S and 4 attempts to do the eyelets. but anyway. what you think? its only the bottom btw.

OK... I've seen the movie. I had seen it before but forgot that i'd watched it.

I think you should set the fan back and recreate the "meat grinder" as a rotating fan duct.

It would be cool to see a cpu cooler fashioned as the ships core.

A window with an image of the doc after his transformation.

You should also somehow incorperate the doctors eyes after he rips them out of his own skull.

I have more ideas but its late and i got to work tomorrow. Cya
