I've built a few stock computers. I'd like to do something more with an old Gateway Profile "all-in-one" which is now obsolete, but in a sort of nice configuration. I'd like to make some mild mods, nothing too wild to over-tax my limited coordination.

I am stuck looking for MB replacement. This is a tight proprietary case. The MB is nonstock size 7 1/4" X 9" (no wiggle room for larger MB). I don't mind tapping some new mounts but I can't find a suitable MB to fit in the base.

Building an add on to the base may be the only way. I am probably going to use an "all-in-one" micro-ATX MB with integrated video and sound. No cards in the slots - highest point will be the CPU cooler. It's for the kids (8 & 10) - will do it up in school colors/theme. Need to play mid level games so performance is not super critical. Any suggestions on a MB that might fit?

Another option is just to scrap the base and reuse the analog LCD panel which is a nice enough display. There is a nice hinge built in that would be easy to screw to a column/base. 'Moddin' a LCD mount may be as far as I get. 2 problems there - no integrated power converter/supply in the display and the vga cable ends in a minivga plug. I can kludge the plug with Fujitsu converter and a male to male VGA cable. The power connecter is molex - so something has to be done there as well.

Here's the specs on the (now disassembled) system:

I've built a couple of mini-itx based mods and have found them to be as advertised--an all-in-one system board that can cram into tight spaces--but thats about it. Although Via has now launched the dual processor versions of their legendary minis, the single proc versions are still suited primarily for small server clients, home entertainment systems and cool case mods.

Thanks. I hope it will be an improvement over the old board which was limited to 64 mg ram (shared with video). I think it'll be fine for the use envisioned - home work and "Detective Barbie" type games.

Hi Gonzo,
I am looking for information on the Profile 2 LCD. I have obtained a LCD display, and would like to use it as a stand-alone monitor. Do you have the pin-outs for the two connectors of the monitor, or do you know where I can find the info.
Thanks for your help.
