So It's time for my annual build. I actually got started a couple of weeks ago, but now that I have enough content it's time to post.
The theme of this build is Iron man as you can guess. Here we can see victim.
http://i.imgur.com/DHKuJ0j.jpg
This build will be based on the Phanteks Enthoo Evolv MAtx build for 2 reasons. Reason one, the Full ATX version of the case is huge, and this case will have to come with me when I travel. Reason 2 is the Mini ITX version of the case is made out of Steel.
First Step is to strip all that sweet sweet aluminium off the case. The easy panels came off first.
http://i.imgur.com/ysk3MF0.jpg
Now the Feet, You have to remove the rubber as well.
http://i.imgur.com/4s4LuaO.jpg
Hinges and window removed
http://i.imgur.com/P0ZLfAC.jpg
Hinges and buttons removed
http://i.imgur.com/kwuzZqr.jpg
Finally got the last 2 panels stripped down as well. The whole case is just covered in this super solid Aluminium.

Packages started arriving soon after. Corsair 850i Platinum fully modular power supply. Gotta love Dat Power.
http://i.imgur.com/v86MvAC.jpg
Mounted... Reservoir has come to play as well!
http://i.imgur.com/hi01Nkj.jpg
I skipped a few steps for this, but I added 2 bulkheads to the case that will pass through liquid to the pump, which will be mounted below the floor of the case.
http://i.imgur.com/OmlUtvr.jpg
Test fitting the radiators... I don't have the final fans at this point, but I want to keep working. I love the look of the cherry red rads with the gold fittings... because you know... Iron Man...
http://i.imgur.com/FjMAGHd.jpg
Pass through and a sneak peek of the plexi floor that's roughed out...
http://i.imgur.com/gevZDTK.jpg
Better view of the rough floor. Time to round it out.
http://i.imgur.com/xpjkRpF.jpg
A little blurry, but it's too late to go back and re-take it.
http://i.imgur.com/6fey6Xf.jpg
This fricking bend took 4 pieces of tubing, my wife's assistance, slightly burnt fingers, and a pair of vicegrips to get in place... Totally worth it.
http://i.imgur.com/9leohEU.jpg
Slightly blurry shot of the front fans... EK Vardar fans will be on all 4 slots controlled by a PWM header on the motherboard.
http://i.imgur.com/6NwryGP.jpg
And an even blurrier shot of the top rad. (I need to stop working late into the night if I'm going to take photos)
http://i.imgur.com/WXiBtno.jpg
Testing Pump location. Looks like it's going to fit. I just need to get some new parts and do something about that cable...
http://i.imgur.com/lms87Ma.jpg
Pump disassembled for parts that are in the mail...
http://i.imgur.com/VAfMCCi.jpg
So future plans... All that Aluminium was stripped off for a reason. It's all off at the Anodizer's place. When it comes back it's going to be a very different color. I have new parts for the pump coming, scheduled to arrive today, as well as a few more parts. This whole build will be liquid cooled, and will be running on Skylake with a 980Ti.
Thanks for checking it out and I love to hear comments.
Heheh, love that bend. Definitely worth the effort.
Looks like a good start.

Bad day today. I killed my pump when I rewired it and swapped the ground and 12v lines :(

Just a short update today. I got the bottom plumbing done along with installing the new parts for the pump. I elected to use soft tubing to make maintenance easier as I can remove the pump with much less hassle than I could with hard tubes.

View from the front.
http://i.imgur.com/2H3SofN.jpg
The soft tubing won't be seen since the new floor of the case will be opaque.
Speaking of the new floor of the case. It's coming along nicely.
I keyed the plexi so the paint would stick nicely
http://i.imgur.com/OTmHDlx.jpg
I then started applying the base color for the floor. You'll see where I'm going with this soon... but for now I'll leave you an in progress shot.

Got some more work done today!
First off the replacement pump came in
Stripped down and ready to have the wires replaced.
http://i.imgur.com/zgWenQj.jpg
New wires soldered on, pump is alive!!
http://i.imgur.com/3WXCkAr.jpg
Also got this guy... Time for some custom decals/masking!
http://i.imgur.com/JyLblOq.jpg
Masking for the next coat of paint on the floor is done... Waiting another 24 hours before I can paint again.
http://i.imgur.com/3ka2hV1.jpg
Sorry corsair... I love you guys, but this is an iron man build... and you're not very Iron man-ey...
http://i.imgur.com/ykp4Wwp.jpg
Cutting time... It's fascinating to watch this thing work...
http://i.imgur.com/0FGeVJB.jpg
And here's the final result...
http://i.imgur.com/9aZNqwX.jpg
Going to do a coat of paint for the floor tomorrow... Can't wait to get my panels back to see how it's all coming together.

Took a peek inside of my high end spray booth this morning (Popcorn box)
The color turned out good, but I really hate working with gloss paints...

Show off the fans too...
http://i.imgur.com/ZQ0yKZD.jpg
So I'm not sure how I feel about the case red next to the painted parts inside... I'll give it a couple days before I decide... I like the contrast because the inside of the case really pops.... I'll just wait until I get the machining done for the larger window and the graphics done... then I'll make my decision...
As always... Gimmie some feedback!!

It's a double update day today!
Masked off the window shape.
http://i.imgur.com/irg2mRq.jpg
My new dremel cutter made quick work of roughing out the window.
http://i.imgur.com/rJ9NhZC.jpg
and here it is after lots of filing. Nice clean edges, but the anodizing is gone... There's a plan for that.
http://i.imgur.com/uVWIbi3.jpg
I totally eyeballed this. Gotta get some more gold on this thing.
http://i.imgur.com/2mwdiAb.jpg
Sprayed down.
http://i.imgur.com/rzZnlMi.jpg
Window was super easy to install, so there's no progress pics of that, but its in.Here's the back, you can see that I used the existing screw posts and then just glued the corners down with builders adhesive.
http://i.imgur.com/eUyRJkb.jpg
I cleaned up a little bit of over spray that leaked under the masking with Goof Off... Here's the final result.
http://i.imgur.com/4BxMO2B.jpg
The new window shows off everything really nicely.
there probably won't be any updates for a little bit while I source some parts and find someone with a water jet cutter and a CNC engraver.
As always if you want to know or see anything just let me know!

I'm taking a straw poll quickly. So I went to the Hardware store and found another possible paint color. Here's both colors inside the case with decent lighting so you can see each one.
http://i.imgur.com/x8cyC1W.jpg
The choices are satin for the new color, or stick with the gloss. Right now I'm leaning towards the gloss color. Getting a gloss of the darker red is not an option (as it looks pretty bad)

So I don't have a ton of progress to show today. My paint on a new part didn't come out, so I have to wait for it to cure before I can sand it down and repaint. I got to see how the test piece turned out from the engraving shop, and washed my car. So I'll share those to tide anyone who's gotten used to regular updates from me...
Test on the scrap piece of the case

So I finished the reservoir panel, I'm not 100% happy with the paint on the top after sanding off a coat that I resprayed too soon, but since it's behind the res You can barely see it, and the part with the mask looks good.
http://i.imgur.com/VJgfsSQ.jpg
I got a call from my friends that the laser cutting was finished. Deron (the shop owner) posed with the work he did for me.
http://i.imgur.com/E4egBa8.jpg
Took it home and added gold to the panel.
http://i.imgur.com/KsIlWQG.jpg
Paint is dry to the touch, which is exactly where I want it for this step. If the paint cures it's much harder to weed out the masking agent.
http://i.imgur.com/LYv7RSB.jpg
Most of the big chunks removed...
http://i.imgur.com/dLcylwj.jpg
all of the big bits removed, time to start the detail work where the masking leaked or the laser cut a line that was too fine to pull up.

I wasn't a huge fan of the Phanteks sticker for headphone jack and Mic, so I had those added as well. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out... Lots of goof off, patience, and about 25 qtips.

That looks awesome. I was not a big fan of this case pre-modding but I'm loving the look now. Tying in the headphone and mic logos is a great touch.

I love working with this case... The aluminum is super thick and it's very forgiving when you're cutting it. Plus aluminum is just awesome in general. The lack of port logos bugged me even though it's pretty easy to remember.

Some of the hardware started arriving! My custom cables and my motherboard are here! I decided to go X99 instead of C170 since I'm going to be doing some streaming on this computer going forward.
That being said lets look at the Part that the CNC guys finished up for me today.

After a little razor work we get the rest of the reactor for painting.

Painted up, just waiting on the EL panels to get here from china.
http://i.imgur.com/jjKixNS.jpg
The motherboard for this project. Quad Channel DDR4, M.2 slot, and a ton of IO... Sadly the USB 3.0 header isn't oriented the best direction, so that's gonna be a little messy in an otherwise clean build.

Filling attempt (this one ended in disaster, I ended up filling the loop with a different tube and funnel combo later...
http://i.imgur.com/d97RM8Y.jpg
Tubes all in place, and yes, I used a ton of paper towel... Let's not go into it... I had good reasons.
The loop is leak testing and i'm working the air bubbles out.
The Original plan to go with gold fluid just looked aweful with the metallic gold paint and the anodized gold fittings. Adding a third gold color into the mix just looked bad... So red fluid it is.
