My Father in law is a huge fan of chevy who worked at a chevy dealership for over 20 years. Right now they have 500MHz beast running Win98, so I think they need an upgrade. The computer I'm gonna build will be chevy themed. Check out my concept pics and tell me what you think.

Looks like it would be a great case theme. Since he worked at a dealership for over 20 years, maybe look for some vintage design accents that are distinct to Chevy besides the bowtie. I bet if we put our heads together we can probably come up with a few things.
A couple of examples..
http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/11/web/767000-767999/767397_15.gif
The SS badge is pretty much a Chevy only emblem.
http://www.taillightking.com/images/Hood%20Ornaments/chevrolet_53-60_Hood_ornament_5.jpg
Or the BelAir Hood ornaments.
http://www.americanautomobilia.com/68trip/23.jpg
And Dont forget good old Chevy Rally Wheels!!
Hope this helps and looking forward to seeing your progress!!
EDIT: This is a pretty nice emblem for Chevy..

Hey a chevy theme! HECK YES! Although you wont get any money out of me for funding I will defiantly support you emotionally 100%! lol Chevy's rule! oh funny story while were on the topic of chevy's. I saw a corvette the other day... no biggie right? There everywhere now-a-days! But this one was different... it was a new'r model pulling two dirt bikes on a trailer. And my younger brother who was in the car with me looks at me and says, "who would put a hitch on the back of one of those pos's?" I didnt know what to say! All I could think was... sob, he's right. ^_^

I'm sure I can pick something up on ebay to with the case. Mabe a hood ornament on top or the emblem on the side, or both!

Here's more. I want to get the actual logos off ebay probably to match these. And I do like the 69 Chevy Camaro SS 427 the best.

http://img112.imageshack.us/img112/7433/ss427logoaf4.jpg
If it's within your skills, having some sort of classic intake reproduced would add a great feel to the front of the case.
Like having the SS 427 and have the sides be mini versions of the grill pattern.
TheGreatSatan

I do want to make the front that same type of front of the car with the "SS", but I'm still working on how. Also...
I've done some searches on the 1969 Camaro 427. Some have that hockey stick striping along the side and not the stripes on the hood. Is there another way to refer to the 69 camaro when speaking specifically about the one with the stripes on the hood?
And WTF is Yenko?

I know that there were SS and RS models (supersport, rallysport). That may make a difference.
EDIT: I also think it _may_ have something to do with the engine size too (327, 396, 427).

And WTF is Yenko?
That would stand for Don Yenko. He would be kind of like Shelby is for Mustangs. He built special edition Camaros, Corvairs, Chevelles, and Novas. I believe they were pretty popular in the SCCA circuits, and considered some of the hotest stock Chevys ever put on the market. They have become pretty rare now so an original can fetch a pretty penny.
http://www.yenko.net/reunion/Price.JPG
This would be a striping job that is unique to Yenko.
As for the different packages .. There was the RS, SS, and the Z28.
Those packages can actually be combined such as the RS/SS or RS/Z28 etc etc. The car you have shown appears to be a RS/SS. The RS package is what gave it the headlight covers.
http://www.firewheelclassics.com/images/Photo_Gallery/shawn3.jpg
Z/28 package alone didn't have the covered headlights.
So instead of searching for the 427 Camaro you should probably look for the RS, SS and Z28 designations. The 427 wasn't available in the Camaro in 1969 through normal dealerships. It was considered a COPO (Central Office Production Order) car and was only available to certain dealerships, race teams, and organizations such as Yenko.
Hope this helps and really looking forward to what you come up with.

That was very informative. So, it would be accurate to say that a blue 1969 Chevy Camaro RS SS with two stripes down the hood and a 427 under the hood could exist right?
i know it is expensive, but this is what i had in mind for this mod.

So, it would be accurate to say that a blue 1969 Chevy Camaro RS SS with two stripes down the hood and a 427 under the hood could exist right?Yes. It would be a COPO car if it was done at the factory. That is a bit of a loaded question, for the right price just about anything is possible. No matter if it was done at the factory or not.. it would be one bad mudda.... :D

Just swap the the 350 for the 427 and this is what it would look like

Well one of the coolest things about Classic Dodge Muscle were the colors!!
http://www.challengertaregistry.com/photos/carlisle_2005/niel_wedekings_moulin_rouge_aar.jpg
"Panther Pink"
http://www.challengertaregistry.com/photos/carlisle_2005/in_violet_aar.jpg
"Plum Crazy"
http://www.challengertaregistry.com/photos/carlisle_2005/vitamin_c_aar_number_3.jpg
"GO ManGO"
http://www.challengertaregistry.com/photos/carlisle_2005/bench_seat_aar.jpg
"Sublime" One of my favorites!
http://www.challengertaregistry.com/photos/carlisle_2005/lemon_twist_aar.jpg
"Top Banana"
And of course they wouldn't be complete without their Flat satin or "suede" black graphics. I can image are VERY cool looking design with these colors!
The Dodge Charger Daytona is probably the grail of Mopar.

That rear spoiler was uber cool in its day and made it the dominant car in the Winston cup. There are just so many really cool aspects of classic Mopars!!
Like the shape of the 1970 SuperBee front grill!

I know whatever you do is going to be cool, but I think the first case painted would look better. I think the front of that first case kinda has the look of the hood stripe already there. It would take some painting but I see something like this...
http://www.ovride.com/pictures/galleries/TBCS/TGS_Dodge_case.jpg
Here is another symbol/emblem you might consider throwing in there somewhere.
http://www.ovride.com/pictures/galleries/woodgrainwheelhorncap.jpg
If your a hardcore Dodge guy you'll know it, but your average joe probably wouldn't get it. Its the steering wheel horn cap. I don't think I have ever seen that triangular emblem anywhere else.

There are a few possibilities. Most likely it is this.
http://yearone.com/images/parts/v/vc145.jpg
paired up with one of these...
http://yearone.com/images/parts/v/vc111.jpg
or according to YearOne it could also be this..

Here (http://yearone.com/serverfiles/headline.asp?hid=120AH5246) is a link to YearOne's list of emblems.
EDIT: OK I take it all back.. Since its a SuperBee and not just a Charger, I'll bet its this...

That one should be easier to change the lighting color. Not sure if l like the grill design on that one. Doesn't give me the whole Super Bee vibe, but thats only my opinion. I know whatever you end up with, it will be good!!
Now lets see some modding!! :D

I'm gonna go with the first case instead and ...
Alright here's the plan. I will stick with the first case, but it doesn't look like I can create a scoop, so....
I will cut a hole in the top of the case and mount an engine. It won't look like the car in the pic, but it will look beefed up. The engine below is the 427, not the 383 that the car has, only better. Like many classic muscle cars, this case will appear to have been upgraded to an engine so big that it sticks out the top of the hood.
http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/8123/4271ce7.jpg
The engine has moving parts too. If you move the geer here:
http://img359.imageshack.us/img359/9536/4272ib0.jpg
It spins the fan here:
http://img359.imageshack.us/img359/5922/4273mk0.jpg
So if I tie in a small fan (say 40mm) I can get this engine going!
http://img359.imageshack.us/img359/1763/4274cl8.jpg
Copy cat!
Also, Just so you know, Mopar never had a 427. You might want to look for a good Hemi model engine.

you shouldn't use a sticker, use a real emblem thing from the cars... but it'll cost you more :(
also, could you not construct some kind of hood on the top? just like a real car or something.. may be a bit complicated to make but I think it'll look nice
looking forward to see this mod completed (or a worklog... :p)

Wow its a good thing you got the Dodge engine, I fear if you would have put the Chevy 427 BB in a Dodge mod, it may have gotten you assasinated. :D Any way the HEMI motor is going to be a very nice touch! Where the 383 Magnum was the most common engine for the 1971 Super Bee, there was an option for the 426 HEMI, and a few of them were built. A 40mm fan might not have enough torque to get that engine to spin, might want to look for some gear motors just incase.
you shouldn't use a sticker, use a real emblem thing from the cars... The emblem he is emulating there is off of the hood.. There was no physical emblem, it was a decal.

Thats a sweet sticker, but the original decal would have only come in flat black. The Green portion of it would have been the car's paint. You can get the actual ones that go on the hood but it would be too large, and they cost around $150. You could probably get one custom cut at a sign shop or buy some sheet vinyl and maybe do it yourself.

I'll probably just get the white one, and cut away the white. ANyway this thread is complete. See you in the worklog.
