hi, im relativly new to the thread and was wondering. if you upgrade your MoBo will you have to reinstall windows or how does that work?
-im great at hardware installation but programing etc isnt one of my strenghts :redface:

It really depends on the difference in mobo's. You may just get away with loading the new drivers, but again depending on the change, it may not even boot. Windows XP uses a "grading" scheme when it comes to changing parts. Change the video card, thats 1 point. Change the cpu, thats 1 point. change the mobo, and depending on the difference, it could be 1 point for northbridge, 1 point for onboard lan, 1 point for onboard sound etc. Not sure how many "points" untill you have to re-register, but I "think" it is 6, 4 if you change a network card.

I had to. So I just went with Linux since I don't own a copy of XP.
what version linux did you boot
i have used suse and i thought it was a nice experience
