Okay! So I just got done watching The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy and couldnt help but think that the Nzxt Lexa case that I have would be a RAWKIN case to mod with a HHGTTG theme. I have a current project with my lexa right now that is called "Black Rose" (Because thats what it is to me). BUT! I am seriously thinking about doing a HHGTTG theme! Let me know if anyone likes this idea! If ya'all think its a good idea then I will defiantly go for it! ^_^

Heh.. Its not for us to like.. Its for YOU to like. Anyway.. It definately has a lot of potential for a casemod. The movie was pretty good but if your going to do it justice... you need to get the book and dig in there...

Enjoy and good luck!!

Well I dont want to do anything SUPER EXPENSIVE! But for a movie this good.. I will defiantly try to bring out the bucks for it! Of course like always tho I want to keep it a bit more simple than say... the doom case. lol That is a bit much for someone like me to accomplish alone. But if I can get more supporters (who have patience of steel) then I will go for it! I mean.. I have a whole side of a case that is just... black. lol how cool is that!? psh.. not really.. at the very least I can do some really awesome and complex and eye catching mural (which I would have professionaly done of course).

I think the whole thing's overrated to be honest-the first book and the second book were cool, but the last ones...don't even go there. But there's a lot of pottential for a nice mod in there.

Not to be a grammer/spelling cop, buuutt....

Defiantly = full of or showing defiance : BOLD, IMPUDENT

Definitely = 1 : having distinct or certain limits
2 a : free of all ambiguity, uncertainty, or obscurity b : UNQUESTIONABLE, DECIDED

So in the first post it could have some relevance and actually sounded good. In the second post I know #2 is what you wanted.

Hehe I just had to say something because you _could_ be "defiantly" modding a case _and_ "definitely" modding a case, pretty much at the same time... ;-)

I think the whole thing's overrated

his style of writing can only be fully appreciated by people who think alike. when some question the point of such books and struggle to find any general plot, i get a kick out of the very same book.

i would say its not for the weak minded or short-of-patience. best thing to do is try to act out what you read, as you read it. i did that for "mostly harmless" and it made life wonderful. YOU try walking from pole to pole, pole to ground, ground to pole, pole to horizon, horizon to pole, all while apparently not even moving.

what am i talking about here? i agree with overide. the movie reallly didnt do a good job of summarizing the books. lots of ommisions and changes, and a lot of the good parts were taken out unfortunately. read at least one of the books, at least a chapter.... a page? get to know the writing style and it may give you even more inspirations.

haha, cricket wars!

...and then read Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency for some more insight into this guys brain...

One of my most quoted lines from HHGTTG: "SEP".

You want a really funny Sci-Fi Book, hunt down a copy of Tik-Tok on ebay. It's out of Print but that is one of the funniest book's i've ever lain eyes on.

It's about a robot who goes nuts and kills someone, and comes to the conclusion that his "Asimov circuits", which stop him arming mankind, are broken. So he sets out to find out just how much evil he can do before humanity stops him. It's really, really, dark-but utterly hilarious.

I do believe that he was a genius though, i just don't think that his books ever captured that.

Well, you're going to have to put a towel in there, and um, dunno. There isn't a huge amount of iconic images from the book that I can think of.

Well just to throw my 2 cents into this somewhere. HHGTTG in my opinion is better known for the movie (around these parts at least) and not the book. So if I do end up doing a HHGTTG mod it would based off of the movie. That and I just dont have time right now or anytime soon to read a book(s). That said I would like to switch this conversation over to ideas. The only thing that is sticking in my mind at the moment is 42 and "have towel will travel'.

How about "the guide"...

Hitchhikers thumb?

I have not seen the movie yet, so not sure what is(not) in the movie vs book.

If it were me I'd add the Flying Dolphins, and a "thanks for all the fish". Or you could theme it after the Vogon's ship.

I think 3 big parts of the movie was just hit here. 1. The Guide. The whole movie pratically revolves around "The Guide". 2. Marvin. A super intelligent chronically depressed robot that has just about as many scenes as the main character? BEAUTIFUL! 3. The Flying Dolphins! That is a great idea for sure to some how incoporate into this mod. Ha, Thanks for the fish. That would be good to put somewhere. But I dont want that to be my main theme. If I do end up doing this mod and if I decide to do a mural of some sort. Thats probably where I would put the dolphins.

For some reason I am having second thoughts about this mod. I just have one of those "its going to bite me in the butt" feelings. Which are usually dead smack on.

Well if someone doesnt adopt this idea. Which if anyone does want to, they have my full support. Considering that I wont even be able to start this mod untill some time way down the road. So for now I am just going to focus on my acrylic reservoir and my pc components which you can all find here... http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3584

Happy Modding,

One thing that I didnt see at first when reading through the replies. "A Vogon's Ship". That is a whole different mod all together if you ask me. I say that because... How cool would it be to have a case that looked like a vogons ship? lol HA! I heart big awesome squares! Heck even I could probably do that after reading through some of these more complex mods on this website. Hmmm.... something to possibly think about for anyone that is stuck for idea's and either has alot of talent or even not so much talent.

A square of vogonity doom! LETS DO IT! ...Wheres the "custom computer case mod" form? If I send it in now I might be able to start some time next year! ^_^

I think that if your going to do it justice, you would have to look to the bbc tv series. The new film is not quite as good.

The BBC special effects have that budget feel to them as well. If you look around hardware shops you will spot the bits and pieces they used to build the models.

As for the books... 1 and 2 were the best, but once you get into the humour 3 and 4 are still worth reading.

My vote would be for Marvin. He is the best thing in it. The guide itself could be done if youwent SFF on it.

I would also want sound effects.. A super chearful CDrom drive! Or a computer that told you exactly how little of its processing power you were using when you surfed the web.

wow. This could be good. I would personally base it off the book.

The movie was inspired by the book. But many of the designs for things such as the heart of gold were forgotten. I believe the book described it as something like a boot or something, not the large white ball it was in the movie. But you could deffinatly hide alot of easter eggs in the mods. Like a small towel, hidden mice, or a cricket bat or something. If you havn't read the book, I think its a must before attempting the mod. (Sounds like you did though).

Something I would like to see is a laser etching of the whale and the bowl of petunias on an acrylic sidepanel.

Or, another great idea would be to make the inside of your computer look like the Magrathea factory floor. Have the carts on their tracks, and the structures hanging from every corner, and little planets all over.

I agree with some of the others though, a Marvin mod would be the coolets looking, and of course the most challenging. But if you look at the R2-D2 mods out there, robot mods can be done, and can look awesome.

Well I have to say.. I sure wont even try to attempt this mod :P I would love to see someone with some serious skill try it out though. C'mon defyant! Crimson? anyone??
