I wonder how long it will be for games to use this new monitor. I also wonder if it's the end of the mouse and keyboard for games?

Wow that's nice.
Imagaine a First Person Shooter game you could use a light gun to shoot and reach out and open doors with your hands.
Oh and auto cad where you can interact with certain elements. Wow.
I want one.
Or or rpg games where you can reach into bags and pull out items.
Imange using that as the screen for the nintendio wii and if it was configuered so it could use it. Thos cool controlers that sense motion and that screen combined would be sooooo! cool.
It would be tiring to use thought have to move your arms around rather than resting them on a table and using a keyboard and mouse so maybe this might save the those South koreans who die at there keyboards during 72 hour long starcraft marathons as they would get so tired from using there arms they would fall asleep.
The posibities for this are endless. Education uses as well such as teaching interactive medince.
Since i'ts being made by Mircosoft it will porbably take as long as windows vista to come out. With the projector and the camera's and all that in it would cost like $10,000 and may not be viable to mass produce and sell to consumers. But who knows let's wait and see.

I agree. So many different applications and uses can be applied to this type of monitor. Looks like the next step.

That was my first thought as well.:D They claim by the end of the year. But we all know those months can turn into years:rolleyes: And they need to keep it under a grand if they expect it to take off. Otherwise it could be like the FSTV, start at 25g, and take years to get down to today's prices and affordable for most people.

I dont really see how it could cost a fortune. Its major (expencive) parts are the 3 cammeras and the projector. They probly use a high-def projector and standard cammeras. Rather cheap today. But i think we all know where the massive markup is headed...
I cant say im a fan of lining microsofts pockets. Such is the way of business...

Its not the compents they will be charging for it will be the speical software and drivers which let it work is gonna be the thing that they had to put money into making.

That would kinda defy the point since the whole idea is you can interact with the screen.

Haha...imagine the board room meeting:
Exec 1: Ok, so it's cost 250 million, but it's finally complete. We're going to be rich. Any bells and whistles to add?
Exec 2: Nope. We're in the money!
Exec 3: Hey, would could add like...voice command!
Exec 1: To a 250 million dollar touch screen?
Exec 3: Like yeah!
Exec 2: Hey, who is this guy?
Exec 1: I think he came in off the street. I knew i should have locked the door.
Exec 3: What about a beer holder too? This is fun! Can we get Chinese food?
lol. Sorry. It just went through my head.

Hahaha lmao.
That's the reasons they office security these days.
Microsoft is like that though I reckon radnom programmers who have no idea about sales get moved into the product design and marketing deaprtment and look what happens. any way.
Imange buying nine of these babies and have them aroudn you and lowering yourself into the center of them. 360 degree internactive envrionment now that would be cool but stupidly expensive.
