I know virtually nothing about the different alloys and how good they are for case modding/building. What alloys do you guys usually use for the flat/angle bars? The specific alloy numbers would be helpful. I need something strong but lightweight for the interdictor's chassis before any work can be done.

i don't know what everyone is using, but here you can choose your own alloy.. just some research material :)

dont worry about the alloy too much. generally the cheaper the material, the beter it is for modding. other stuff is very hard to work with, while the cheap stuff is a softer alloy.
buy your extruded peices from a menards, lowes, fleet farm, home depot. but stay away from true value. they dont sell enough merchandise and have to ack prices up.
get your sheet from a local metal fabrication shop. just look in the phonebook for someone that works with aluminum. they will definatly have sheets that you can buy for cheap.

I need something strong for the chassis, most pieces will be straight and will only need to be cut to length and drilled and possible threaded. Pics of the chassis sketchup should be up later today.
