I have a few hundred on me to spend on games for my newest upgraded lan-party-rig. Anyways, I don't know witch games are good for lan-partying.
I like first-person-shooter for lans, those are great multiplayer. But I just havnt been following up with gaming latley.

So I need suggestions.

UT2004, IMO is the best multiplayer FPS there is. I would definately get that.
The "Battlefield" series is a great series of FPS's as well.
CounterStrike, CounterStrike: Source, and Team Fortress are all great HL and HL2 based multiplayer games.
Call of Duty and Call of Duty 2 are good also.
I've never played this, but the Prey multiplayer is supposed to be good too.
The "Quake" series too.

Hope that helped!

I must agree with .Maleficus on UT2004, buy it, load it up with mods and kiss your bordem goodbye.

Halo could also work as a good FPS, but you need a lot of people because there are no bots.

Supposedly, FEAR is really good at multiplayer, but I can't tell you for sure because I haven't played multiplayer.

Counter Strike and CS Source as lan staples.

Battliefield series yeah. COD and Medal of honor still get a bit of a work out.

Also some of the rainbow six games can be popular as well as the swat ones.

I haven''t played team fortess in a long time though.

Download steam and by it online. Or go to your gaming store and you can buy it in a pack with Half life, opposing force, blue shift and team fortress.

The studios that made FEAR has announced they are releasing the multiplayer part of their game for free, so I'm sure that it will become popular for LAN parties.

When I have LAN parties with my friends (only about 6 people) we play a lot of Call of Duty 2, Counter-Strike: Source and Battlefield 2. FEAR is okay for LAN but it got boring just running around killing. BF2 and CoD2 are problly my favorite because we get a lot of teamwork going.

Ooooo, found something good for LAN's when it comes out. On the cover of my PC Gamer, I saw something about Team Fortress 2. Haven't read it yet, but if it's anything like the first one, it will be great for LANs. When it comes out, that is.
