Lately i have been haveing cold boot problems and i remain stuped if anyone has any insight or ideas they are greatly appricated.

The Problem: if i turn off ac power to my computer via the switch on the PSU or on my UPS the computer locks up on boot as it did when i had no bios (shudder). the only way so far that i have been able to get it to boot was to hold down the front power switch untill the computer turns off and then turn it back on. everything is fine after that. but it is becoming increasingly anoying.

here are my specs that may be usefull.
mobo: Gigabyte GA-8I945PL-G
PSU: Enermax 500W liberty
GPU: X1800XT
CPU: intel P4 (dont remember the model)
RAM: OCZ 2x512 800mhz DDR2 (added around the time the problem started)
UPS: APC (added with ram)
mouse: razer copperhead (added with ram)

Is your clock always wrong?
Perhaps your BIOS battery is dieing. Im not sure how to replace it though without deleting it.

You never know some battaries can come broken off the production line.

Swap in your old ram and see if this causes any change.

well i figured out what it is but im not sure if i want to fix the problem.

my ocz ram is 800 ram and my mobo is 533 so i overclocked the mobo to keep up with the 800 ram, when ever i turn this off it boots first try but i dont want to slow down my ram.

if anyone has heard of this problem information is welcome
