A n00by question

In my lan-machine. I only ahve 1 Hardrive and 1 Dvd burner. Anyway, I know the Hardrive IDE cable connects to the blue slot on the motherboard, and the other IDE connects to the balck one. Anyways, Say I connect the DVD burner to the Slave Hardrive IDE cable, will it still work?

I mean I know how to build a computer and eveything, but now, I'm trying to get through the cable management.

Yes it will. You may have to set the HD as master and CD drive to slave, but in most cases cable select for both works fine.
