So this thing pretty much sounds amazing for... well just about anything. I just want it for cutting out a complex window design. How well do you guys think this will do the job? I have heard dremel a few times throughout these mod projects so I finally decided to check it out for myself! :)

Do NOT get a battery powered dremel. They suck.
You'll get part way into your project, you'll be in the grove and then the damn thing will die and you'll have to cool your jets til its charged.
If you want fine control. get a flex-shaft attachment (http://www.dremel.com/en-us/attachments-and-accessories/attachment-accessory-detail.htm?H=188575&G=69659&I=66226). or get a real flexshaft (http://www.contenti.com/products/flexshafts/236-971.html) like jewlers use. The one i linked is a cheapo one but you get the idea.
Also don't feel you have to get a real dremel, there are several manufacturers of dremel-type rotary tools. I have a sears rotary tool myself with a flex shaft and it works great.

YEah, ill second that motion. Do not get a cordless rotary tool. You'll be disapointed from day 1. Go to home hardware (or equivilant) and pick up a cheap corded tool. Pawn Shops are another great source for cheap merchandice.

Okay, so one of our fellow modders (Cheztir) here on the website is using a 10.8 Li Ion cordless dremel rotary tool....

And he said it works great. Here is his mod project page here in the forums...

So what do you guys say about that one? A cordless will never be good as a corded but thats what you pay for when you go wireless. You get more versatility and you get that annoying cord out of the way.

You know, the cord doesn't really get in the way much. Yes, you will have to turn your work, and you have to be by an outlet, but it's not all that bad. If your workspace is not by an outlet, then go with the cordless. But if you have access to an outlet, I would definately get a corded one.
Cord all the way.
In a modern house there is no reason to run cordless and cordless tools just don't get the job done as quick or as well.

Since when did they stop puting outlets on the exteriors of houses?
Another thing is the inevitable dead battery... Will you be able to buy a new batterie for it in 2 yrs?
I had a 30yr old corded rotary tool and it worked like the dickins. :)

lol in two years? I think I can manage that....
They never stopped on my house... because they never started. Our house was a custom built home by the original owner who we bought it from. That and its completely log. The guy knew his stuff I have to say! This is probably the most modern log home I have ever seen or lived in. Very tastely done. And at 850,000 dollars I would hope so! THATS why I dont move out. :D
OH and one other thing... I bet you cant guess what the only thing about this house is that I dont like!? YUP! He wired this whole house so.... WIERD! I cant even begin to start to tell you. It gives me the feeling that he didnt care much for convient electricity or anything like that... OH! lol and I almost forgot to mention it! THERE IS ONLY ONE EXTERNAL ELECTRIC OUTLET!!! You think thats funny? Guess where the dumb dumb put it? IN THE FRONT OF THE HOUSE ON THE DECK!? WTF?!? lol yup, other than that it is a pretty darn fine home. I cant wait till my dad puts up his shop! Its 60 by 60 and its kind of split in half... like its two stories. Its wierd.. I'm not even sure what he meant by that so I cant explain it better than that. ANYWHO! Man.. I am in a really chit chatty mood tonight! lol probably driving eveyone nuts!!! ....I bet most of you stopped after the first paragraph huh?? lol
