Okay so you wont win 100 bucks. But I do need help chossing a case for my present computer. Its just your standard dell and I want to spruce it up a bit with a new case. I have found three I like but cant decide which one to go with. So any advice, tips, tricks, etc etc would be good. Or you can simply reply with which case you would pick out of the three.

Doesn't Dell use proprietary motherboards and power supplies? I don't know much about proprietary hardware, but since it isn't standard ATX, won't it not fit right in a new case?
I'm probably wrong, so anybody, please correct me if I am.
If it would fit, and you do get a new case, I can't really help on which of those to buy, as none of them really excite me to much. I can however give you advice on what to look for in a case.
Removable motherboard tray, fan ports, number of expansion slots, number of drive bays, included thumb screws, amongst others.
Hope that helped!

The third one is the coolest looking. That'd be my pick.

Yea, I like the last one alot too. I dont like the tower case. I took a better look at it just plain sucks. Which is why it cost so little. I originally wanted it because it looks like you could mod it pretty good. but it just look likes it sucks on the inside.

Ohhhh.... I see.... at first I didn't understand the first case, but now I do. You probably already know this, but it's a HTPC. Not that it makes much of a difference, but I guess that explains some of the design, like it's slim-ness and such.

Right... The only reason I wanted that case is because it would of been a cheap tower case. Which is what I want. But I want a nice looking tower. Unfortunately tower cases that are also nice looking are exspensive.

personally, i like the HTPC case. it looks like it has a point to make... like it has a purpose, which it DOES. im a sucker for logical design.
the rosewill case catches my eye too. it has those pci slot clips, and a few other good cooling and design things in there too. its also the cheapest. those... scratches?.... on the front can probably be removed and you could put another big fan there.
thats my preference. i dont go for the flash of the x-dreamer. the screen on the front is a good idea, but its implemented badly.

I like the HTPC case most. I like the clean look and how the optical drive is stealthed.
If it was bigger (50x50x20 cm or so) I think I would buy it for my future project... but it isn't so I'll look for another one

Okay, I have a problem now. I LIKE THEM ALL! lol if only I had two more computers....
I think I am going to go with the X-Dreamer II. It might be flashy. But its not over flashy. If the insides of the HTPC case was different... as in what I want. I would probably go with it. Oh well though. I might make that my next project though.
Slug Toy... My god man. You my friend, are freaking hilarious.

May I make a suggestion?
I was looking through the Newegg cases, and I came across this. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811147026) It isn't too flashy, and has a sort of, I don't know, smart look to it.
Otherwise, I would go with the X-Dreamer.

maleficus, your suggestion has my approval. very nice looking case, cheap, and the only thing it doesnt have is those slot clips. perfect for modding, and only .5mm steel (easier to cut than most steel cases).

Yeah, I like the case a lot. It is perfect for modding. And, with the 300W PSU (which really isn't good for a system now-a-days) you can make a tester PSU to test your parts. That's what I did when I got a 350W PSU free with a case. It works great.
yeah the first or third but dude watch out i have two dells and the mobos do not usually work in other cases, and its hard to find a dell case that an atx can fit in with out modding it

Well this would be a modders website now wouldnt it ^_^. If I run into any troubles with this dell then I will either make a few modifications or I will just flat out buy a new mobo.
Thanks for the warning anyways.

now you're talking! stick it to dell! thats what id do too, id either make it fit, or scrap the crap hardware (proprietary hardware is total crap in my mind).

Yea, You have to hand it to dell. They have some pretty CHEAP computers. ^_^
I was thinking to myself today about how much fun it would be to take a dell computer case with there ODD mobo's and just wipe it off the face of this earth. MAYBE I CAN GET A BIG ASS HELIUM BALLOON!!!!!! :D

You dont think it is too flash do you? I have seen the plain version without the window and LED's at my friends house and liked it alot. But I wanted a little more such as the LED's and window. Do the lights accent the case or is the case that accents the lights? If you get what I mean?
Slug Toy

the case accents itself, and the lights are annoying after a while.

Cool cool. If the lights start bugging me I'll just uninstall them. ...or I'll just sell it and start building a new computer all together.
