I'm new, didn't know where to post this, I got a new Thermaltake (Black) VB1000BWS Soprano Case w/ X Type Side Window, No P.S. free from a friend.

So here is a little contest for 1300 [Canadian] what would YOU put in it for guts? Going for best performance/upgradability. I know what I am probably going to get for it, but maybe you guys have a better idea...

Winner gets my undying admiration O.o

processor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819115003

motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131030 ive read that there is a bios update that will add more features and boost performance a little. look into it if you get this board.

ram: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820146118 (ive already recommended this pack to someone else too).

video card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814142068 (act now and this is a super deal, but i dont knw how long the mail in rebate will last).

OR

hard drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822136009 this is hopefully enough space, and definitely not too expensive.

power supply: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817104155

so that covers essential hardware. sstupid me... i wasnt keeping a running tab so i have to post and click the links to double check. i think its still in the green, and i can probably find better/cheaper stuff over the next day or two.

firstly let me check everything as it is right now.

<EDIT> it works out to about $1357.13 after tax and in the worst case (meaning you get the video card with the rebate but miss it somehow and end up paying the full $300 and also paying the full $100 on the power supply). is $1357.13 good enough for now? like i said, i can probably get it down a bit more.

now, beyond that hardware, i dont know if i want to suggest anything. you can get a sound card if you want to, but ive only had experience with creative cards, and there are other out there that offer different advantages and reportedly equal quality and performance.

optical drives are not my specialty. i cant offer suggestions there either. all ive heard is that plextor has good stuff and they're supposed to be gods in that area... but i just dont know.

coolers... honestly if you run everything at stock speeds, you dont NEED one. i usually say thermaltake blue orb when someone asks, but no one ever takes my suggestion. ill leave that to your discretion, meaning if you want a better cooler, ill try to work it in.
