So what could you do with one of these babies? I know you can customize desktops like mad and make them look super cool and personal. But what can you do with a laptop???

I've always wanted to see a laptop mod...

First, you could add a window on the open space next to the keyboard...
Second, you could (I don't have a clue about what I'm talking about :p ) install a slim flat-keyed LED keyboard
Third, you could put a window on the back of the LCD and do some custom lighting 8)
Fourth, you could convert it into a really thin desktop PC

Um, thats all I got right now, a while ago I had a whole bunch of cool laptop modding ideas, I'll get back to you...;)

I would:

Paint it really well and make it look spiffy.

Add blue led's to the fan vents on it.

Put in a new backlit keyboard and have an option to turn the back lighting on or off.

Find a small compartment and fill it with welder's thermite and a battrey so I can fry the laptop if the fed's catch me hacking. (Those who have watched the Broken will know what I'm talking about)

Okay, so far I have thought up of this to do.

- Window everything beyond reason
- Get a NICE paintjob
- Replace the keyboard with LED keyboard
- Tattoos (like with voodoo's)

And that is pretty much it for now... keep the idea's coming! Also does anyone know where to get computer tats??

Edit:
Thermite is probably the coolest stuff in the world! Just as long as you dont use it for evil and ONLY use it for science I can send you the cookbook for making it and PROPERLY using it. ....maybe. ^_^

Wow, Im so stupid I forgot the most basic thing: A nice paint job
Also I finally took a look at your comp, so I have a couple more ideas:
1st, Get rid of every spot that says "dell"
2nd, If you never use a the touchpad and always use a mouse, you could just remove the touchpad and window it over
3rd, Change the power button
4th, change the color of all the LED's

Once again, thats all I got for now :)
This is sounding pretty sweet, can't wait to see, are you going to post a worklog?

Aren't there those "desktop replacement" notebooks that have "surround sound" built in. I think they are in those Alienware gaming notebooks. Maybe you can attempt that.

First off, it is not mine. It's a close friend's. So all of this is really up to her and what she wants since she is paying for it. But if I ever get my hands on it rest asure I will post a work log with lots of pictures and step by step stuff.

So this is what I am thinking so far if she approves...

Medium pearl pink with a black tat and then have quad trapezoid windows on the top with either blue, purple, or UV led's for back lighting. Then whatever LED color she picks I will also do for the acrylic keyboard back lighting.

So what do you guys think?

Maybe etch something on the window that will either match the theme of the tattoo or blend them together.
You mentioned Voodoo (which I am assuming is VoodooPC the company).
Here is a picture of one of their laptops.

The circular part will be the tattoo and the little diamonds that look kind of like heads can be etched on plexi that will be behind the whole symbol or just 4 little pieces of plexi. This is just a quick example to get you thinking. I hope it was clear.

I think I'll cut out a tat design and paint that on when I do the paint job. lol this thing is gonna look alot like a voodoo but thats a good thing I think. I would love to have a voodoo laptop. I just hope this girl doesnt back out at the last second. She knows basically nothing about computers so whenever I say something like paint job she starts to get nervous.

Umm...are sure you know what you're doing here? Windows in a laptop? There's never going to space for that, and where will you wire up the lights and the fader circuit? The paintjob and the tat you could possibly manage, but any light in the lid is going to shine through the screen as well...

Just make sure you've thought this through, ok? Make a list of things that could go wrong and decide if it's worth risking someone else's laptop. If it was your laptop, it would be a different situation.

I thought I saw a laptop with a window in it a while back... oh well no biggie. I can still do the paint job or have someone do it for me. Dave... that pink computer you got is freaking awesome! You gave me a good idea for what kind of paint job I want to do. PINK CAMO! :D
