Can I cut it into as many pieces as necessary?

It's a tricky one that. I think with EL wire, the more pieces you cut it into, the dimmer it gets-unless you have more than one inverter to power it. So 1 inverter will run 1 piece at full luminosity, or 2 pieces at 50% luminosity.

Most folks just try and keep the one strand going I think-you might be able to cut it in half and put copper wiring in the middle of the 2 halves-though I can't promise anything.

Ok, thanks Dave.

hmm, assuming that luminosity is directed to voltage and not amperege, the inverter thing shouldn't be a problem.

However, just do what Dave suggested, should work, but I have no experience with electroluminescient (sp?) wire, so no promises.

I think the more u cut it the brighterit will get cause there is less wire for the electricity to flow through

if I want to do a keyboard mod with EL wire, what do I need to buy other than the EL wire?

Maybe some glue, or Plexi, I would sink them down in and make it flush.

Well you could use some: FiberOptic Laces (http://cgi.ebay.com/LED-Neon-Glow-Stick-SHOELACES-Disco-Flash-Light-Fun-L6B_W0QQitemZ160124510149QQihZ006QQcategoryZ22689Q QssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
Then go, On , Flash, and Fast Flash.
And there shorter.

Here are the 12v Inverters (http://cgi.ebay.com/12-volt-DC-inverter-for-El-wire-El-strip-El-panel_W0QQitemZ130115321957QQihZ003QQcategoryZ5801 8QQcmdZViewItem) for the El Glow

I put an el gauge display in my truck and it came with a transformer just like that. However I opted to get the 2 color switch transformer. it goes from blue to green and it dims it too. As for the El wire. I worked with some when if first came into production. It is basically a wire that runs down the middle with a phosorescent coating around it. then it is wraped in a very thin wire in a spiral around the core. then its all covered in clear plastic. I remember trying to wire it up if you cut the pieces sucked!. the wires were way to small. As for the brightness of each wire. I noticed a slight decrease in output. but I contributed that to the extra resisstance of a soldered connnection. I also noticed if you use the wire and bend it alot of times, you will crack the phosporescent coating off and it will have spots that don't light up. so don't bend it too much back and forth that is. Hope this helps. Like I said, its been years, like 10 years since I've workded with it. Maybe they came out with better technology since then.

These HERE (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/7-color-LED-Decoration-Bar-Interior-Lighting-car-kit_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33713QQihZ019QQitem Z290125390294QQrdZ1) are preddy kewl. I'm sure someone could incorporate this into there mod.
