Okay, So just got my new Netgear 240 Router a while back. The problem is I cant get it to work. I have done EVERYTHING other than call them. Which I hate doing so I am going to put that off as long as I can :P. Anyways... Could it be my modem? Everything lights up and it says everything is working just fine. I can even connect to it with my Linksys wireless adapter. But I dont get any internet out of it. Even when I am wired to it. The modem is just a small lil white box so I am thinking that maybe its not good enough or something?? Does anyone know what the problem is?

Your product is the RangeMax™ 240 Wireless Router right. It's not a modem its meant be used like this

Internet>modem>RangeMAX 240>Computers

It doesn't have a phone jack in it so I don't know how you could use it as a modem anyway.

Yes, Its the RangeMax™ 240 Wireless Router. I have sattelite internet. Right now I am using a linksys wireless router. It goes like this... Internet Reciever Dish > Wire > Modem > Wire > Router > Computers

It works perfectly with my linksys router... but when I installed the netgear it appeard to work fine other than I cant connect to the interent. Even though it says I can. So the only thing I can think of is that my Modem or my Reciever isnt good enough for the 240?

EDIT:
Also, I know that its not a modem. The modem is the little white box that connects my reciever to my router. But when I looked online, the modems there looked more like my router. So thats why I ask if its maybe my modem? I dont think my router is defective... I think it's probably just that my equipment isnt up to par with the router.

I thought you wanted to use the router as a modem for a moment there. my bad.

I have had problems like this before with an older netgear router.

I would suggest getting a wifi router a modem in one. But since you have satelite that is not an option.

Firstly on all your computers check that your DNS settings are set to the ones specified by your ISP. Go to Control Panel > Network connections > right click on wirless network and go properties > general tab > select internet protocol tcp/ip then go properties and make sure the DNS is set correctly your service prodiver my have a special DNS settings or it may just be auto you need to check with them.

Also I found with my old netgear router if a specificed a fixed IP address I could not acces the internet so I had to choose select Ip address automatically using the same method as above. This was one of the reasons I changed to a wirless router and modem all in one from linksys.

Also there might be some really obsucre setting on your modem that deals with connecting to the modem and pushing packets through to the net and stuff.

Good luck

Thanks, I'll try that later. I have messed around with it so much that I am just done for now lol.

Anyways.. this thing here (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16825116107)
is pretty similar looking to the one I have. Except that the USB is an ethernet port too.

And also its 56kbps modem while you would be chruning along at say 100kbps on statelite.
