Hmm.. I was wondering, can we use the buttons from a scrap microwave oven, and use them as some kind of ''touch switch'' for a power button a nd a reset button? I never saw what they looked like, but I always wondered if they could be used as a power switch. Was also wondering if they were used by a standard printerd layer like keyboards, or something more complicated with two wires that we ccould fix and place them so we can power our computers with them.

i think they have the black circle that makes contact with the squiggly line, if you get my drift.

you can make touch buttons fairly cheap though.

thats for a dvd drive, but if you put the wires on the power switch, itll do the same job

You can get a touch sensitve button from xoxide.com

I am not sure if they still sell it though. But they did at one time so if you search for it then it will be in there data base somewhere...

Edit:
Found it...

Whatever you do, PLEASE don't put touch sensitive buttons on the top of your case like Apple did with the Cubes. I can't tell you how many times the one we had at work got shut off because someone piled something on top of it. Then again it might have been a feature, if it had stayed on with the exhaust vent blocked it would have fried itself posthaste. I hated that thing, but we had to have it because I was doing tech support and some people used Macs.

Well, if I use touch buttons, it's going to be on the front of the case, dont worry :) And hid well, so nobody can reach it accidentally. Thanks for the tips, if I can find a scrap microwave around to look how it's made inside maybe I could use one of their buttons and make a switch from it, or Ill jsut forget that, since I'm too lazy to build my own touch sensitive button or buy one -_-

If you just want the wiring that goes behind the buttons and are gonna make your own covers - I can think of a place you can get 105 of them REAL cheap, brand new - probably as little as $5....

Anyone.... Anyone....
