dude.. i should say try some aspirin, pain-killer, antibiotic.. all at once.. or some high alcohol beverage.. don't drink it, just keep it on the tooth.. and go to the emergency room.. they'll do something..
(no j/k, right?)

Yeah numb the pain someone (not by aclohol) use pain killers try and go to the hospital either call a friend up or get a cab.
If it gets bad like you can't stand up call an ambulance.
You can stand up. Whatever reason you're swelling is caused by will cause problems in your blood pressure. You might feel woozy, but after you're up for a minute or so you'll be fine. The one thing you don't want to do is panic. Panic will cause your heart to race and make the blood pressure problem worse. Relax, take deep breaths. This isn't a big deal. Whatever this is it isn't life threatening.
You don't have a phone.
Get a neighbor, take some aspirin, and have them take you to the ER. Take some paper and a pen with you, tell whoever sees you that you have taken aspirin to help deal with the swelling and let them take care of it.
If you really can't stand up, crawl to a neighbors and have them call an ambulance.

Aspirin?? You guys have obviously never had a tooth ache...
Take some extra strength IB Profen.
Get some Ambasol and put it on the tooth and surounding area.
Gargle a cup of salt water. 1Tbs salt to one glass.
And BRUSH YOUR TEETH!!!

for once i would agree with the use of ibuprofen. its an anti-inflamatory drug. not the best, but its better than nothing, and i dont think you need a prescription for it.
the brushing teeth thing is a big part, although sometimes this happens for no apparent reason. unfortunately this often ends in a root canal or some other expensive and unpleasant procedure.
The reason I suggest aspirin wasn't because of it's pain relief. It's because it's common, has known interaction properties, and stops swelling.
Other drugs have lesser known interaction properties and if you're going into a hospital/doctor it's a good idea to let them know what you've taken.

i made it !
In a way, after i posted this thread thing went from bad to worse...
i couldn't control my arms very well. i started to breath very hard, and i think i started to hallucinate, so decided something had to be done
by this time me legs where dead, tryed to stand up... ended up under the table, i remembered adrenaline, thought it could help ,so i cuted the cable from my solder, put it in the wall, and zapped my left leg two times with no reaction from the leg, tryed the right leg, the fuse went after the first shock...
the shocks didn't get me going, so i made 2 or 3 cuts on my abdomen, you wont belive fow much the blood on the carrpet gets you going....
my legs started to work so i managed to get to my friends house, the guy lives 4 homes from me, freaked the life out him, after he child a bit, we got in his car and went to the ER...
The doctor just looked at me for 10 second.... after that they gave some strong antibiotics .
they told me that of would have been an hour late I would dyed, the pus bag, had spiled in to my blood sistem and my organs where starting to shut down.....
so i'm 48 stitchs reacher, and a bit messed up, but they say i'l be 100% in a week or so...
thanks for the suport you cant imagine how much it helped me

wow so you had a major infection... that WAS a close call because those are very dangerous. my grandfather developed one when he was in the hospital for something completely unrelated. it killed him, but they got him back and treated everything. no laughing matter.
so the moral of the story is dont wait around. dont even ask us for ideas. if you get something like that... dentist or doctor or anybody with some medical knowledge right away. bacteria have the capability of doubling their population every 20 minutes, so it doesnt take long to get real bad.
dont you think that was a little extreme to be cutting yourself up? i mean... if you could cut yourself... you might have been able to drag yourself to a phone or something. personally, i would have tried for the phone first. the electricity thing... probably wont help in a situation like that. once youve lost control for no apparent reason, you probably wont get it back by zapping yourself.
i would suggest keeping an eye on things for a day or two... a REALLY close eye. its not common, but after events like that you can develop that flesh eating disease because its basically another infection. like i said, not common, but it can happen and it IS become more common now days. all it takes is a scratch and the right conditions, and its amazing it doesnt happen more often because of this.
so for now, take it easy of course, and dont be afraid to go back to the hospital if something isnt right. after having this happen, lots of people are usually kept at least overnight to monitor.

mm... "nice" story... hope u get well soon... if i were u, i would get a cell phone ;) call emergency when u feel bad.. call from the very begginging, don't wait for legs to go numb.. a tooth ache is just a sign, after all, that something is bad in there.. i knew someone and he died in a day.. went to the hospital, infection spread.. they couldn't do anything.. just get well and be more carefull so there isn't a next time.. man, u got me (at least) worried..

that whole day was wierd,
a do have a cell phone, but the bloody thing just went dead that day, now it works fine... X_x
my home phone was cut of, for some maintenance work, and for some reason my yahoo messenger did not work...
(i started fealing like in a horror movie)
the cut my self part was the last resort, i was fealing that i wont last much more longer, so i did with out blinking, i had my girl to live for, my future plans, keronite engine coating, "the box" project, slug coming to europe, 3 shocks and 3 cuts was a small price to pay
two years ago i falled of my bike at 72km/h, i had 5 broken ribs, and a cracked thighbone, and I walked away from it...
but this thing gave a run for my money
this was good in way, in the last 3 or 4 years i started to get cocky from all the thing a got away with
if you ever get an infection or something similar dont mess around, you cant see your enemy, it will kill you behind your back
I would definitely avoid the shocking bit. That could have made a bad situation worse.
And keep your cell fully charged.
Sounds like your lymphatic system overloaded.

really? just pulled the thing out? no root canal or nothing? thats odd. they usually try to fix the problem in other ways first. so now you are minus one tooth. how lovely.

:)))
they didn't try anything because the thing was under the gum level, all that was left of was the two roots, so not much could have been done to save it
i'm an old man, starting to lose my teath!
