So this site is from a former co-worker of mine. He writes some really cool screensavers in opengl for fun that will put a load on even the toughest system if you crank up the options. Some of them will even make that quad sli rig scream uncle.
Enjoy!

Those screen savers are really sweet. But I'm not cruel, so I'll give my graphics cards some idle time. :p

The Hyperspace on full boar crashed my computer. Nice screensavers though.

Hyperspace was meant to do that. My buddy wanted a screen saver that would be around for a while so he programmed it to be able to scale up as his hardware was replaced. He wrote a demo program for sgi that would tax even the biggest graphics supercomputer and bring it to it's knees. I wish you could see that one, it is like being in a planet-arium with hardware in it.
The Euphoria screensaver I've used in the past. Very neat.

ive noticed a pattern in the helios screen saver. it seems to go through regular fluctuations in shape. it starts out randomly oriented, then the emitters and collectors gravitate towards each other into a mass, then they orient themselves like this:

then everything destabilizes and polarizes so all the emitters are on one side and the collectors are on the other. the whole things keeps repeating, and depending on how many emitters and collectors you set it to, you get different shapes.
very cool.

I think I remember my bud talking about this one. Everything is supposed to be random and was written that way in the code. His comment was "Even in chaos there are patterns".

you know, i dont mean to bring this back to life here, but i had a random thought.
i was just watching the molecules twirling around for folding@home, and it hit me. this guy should work on the display for the folding@home stuff. it IS a little bland right now, and could use something flashy.
it sounds like you're still in contact with him... you should mention it and see what he thinks.
