Okay, so this product here...

Is this strictly for movies or can it be used for any kind of data? Is it RW? Can you use it in any drive or does it have to be a blu-ray drive?

It works exactly like a normal DVD-Burner (Can read and write anything) except it can also read and write Blu-Rays.

Your talking about the optical drive right? Well what about the CD's? Can you burn and write data onto blue ray CD's using any optical drive? Or can you only use the blu-ray optical drive to write data onto blu-ray disks??

WOW...

Only with a Blu-Ray drive. And the first gen BD drives will *not* play back store bought movies.

Mita its exactly the same as a dvd it can be used for videos, files what ever. It's just a 200gb dvd. Think of it that way.

I think you mean 50gb; Blue Ray Discs hold 25gb single-side and 50gb dual-layer

No Sony working with TDK and is unleashing 200gb disks. 8 Layers or some crazyness.

its on engadget. its a prototype though. and it will cost a fortune. the burner and the discs will probably equate to about 2tb of hard drives.
