Pretty self explanatory, post your idea's for a case mod.

I'll Start

How bout getting a keg and split it into two? Put your computer in one half, put the beverage in the other. OR you could make a mini snack dispensing machine and mod it into a computer.

Another case idea. This one hit me while looking at my crappy Emachines computer...

Oh, heres the cool things it would have if I had the time and money (lol)

Intake/exhaust fans for harddrive
separate hdd/optical/mobo housings
neato green cathode lights
500 watt PSU
Intel Dual Core 2.5 Ghz
ATI radeon 9000 IGP
firewire
2 Western Digital Caviar clear front drives (250 Gb each)
4 or 5 cooler master fans

I'm in the middle of modding a 1916 Victrola cabinet. Picked up empty cabinet from a antique shop. I have all the computer parts for the mod. I just need to get a few pieces of Mahagany wood for the front drives. Will take a while to assemble it, want it done right.

A pyramid. And the power button would be like a trap. You push it, and it trips something that presses the power button. Booby trap like stuff. And make the inside a diorama of the inside of a pyramid. Make tunnels that would be for air flow, like have a tunnel going from the outside (with a fan) to the CPU or GPU.

Would be complicated, but sweet.

i don't have such an intricate design, but i have a nice idea..and no money :)

..so: front mounted 3x120mm rad + top mounted 3x120mm rad :) 3x4 hdds, 3x5.25 bays for dvd+res+fan control... atx or btx (prefer second) mounting.. some 120mm led fans, 2 cathodes in the front panel... and hopefully a stronger design than other cases..
anyone wanna do one of these? 8)

That is going to be one tall case... a bit too tall for me.

By the way, why do you prefer BTX?

If you have seen the crazy mods I've made then you'll want to tune in when I do something insane with...

I hope you don't build a case out of PSUs... That sounds like fun to tidy up all those wires!:p

Edit:

Kind of confused about this thread. Isn't that the purpose of the "Idea Zone" forum section all about?

well i think this thread is just to consolidate ideas that (definitely?) wont happen, and have a concentrated source of inspiration for someone else... instead of random ideas strewn about and cluttered up with chatter. although... ideas are always prone to plenty of discussion, especially the good ones.

actually, it's just a bit taller than your normal case would be.. about 530mm tall and 600+ depth :)
i don't prefer BTX.. well, i didn't see too many BTX mobos or cases(true btx cases are smallish and the converted ones are just that), so there is no advantage that convinced me.. except.. i just like the upside-down mobo install... with the psu down and the wind-tunnel idea over the cpu, nb and ram (although it can be applied to atx too) :) but i usually think cases thru to work either way, as i't easy to flip the backplate.. virtually :)
ah, and of course, if you're using nice coolers on the video board(s) u get to see them better too :)

I keep looking at this thing and for some reason, I keep thinking "disproportionate high heeled boot". Don't ask me why... lol

what if, you had a modular case, and you could rearrange it as you like. so say you needed a bit more desk space, you could stack the pc up.

actually, scrap that. a piece in multiple boxes would be cool, although there would be loads of wires around the place.

No need for wires to connect the thing, just have stackable boxes and you can put in some cool plugs that would allow you to move the individual pieces around. Sgi does this with it's origin 3000 and altix series. They connect via one cable that handles all the communication and data lines and then one power plug. You could easily make that modular.
