how hott is too hot for a pc? when i had my computer down in the basement there was alot more room around my pc, i had a steady temp of about 32C idle to 36C while playing games, ive noticed since ive mooved my computer in my room now that thers alot less space around it i get idle temps of around 35C and high around 44C while playng games. i want to know what the hottest temperature it can get before anything overheats or gets damaged.
here are my specs if that has anything to do with it
Asus a8n sli premium mobo
BFG Geforce 7800 gt oc
Amd athalon 64 4000+
Corsair CMX1024-3200PRO 1GB DDR400 XMS3200 ProSeries
Here is where its at now

Mine Idols at around 35 to 36... You're in the normal range:D . Sometimes it will get up to around 45, but thats normal. You might be a little hot, so just try adding an extra fan or something. I'm getting ready to install a fan on the hottest point, the harddrives. If you cool the HDDs, the rest of the case will be cooler, lowering your temps.

The hottest you ever want to get is around 140 F. Anything above and its toast.

50 is probly a good base line for max temp. It can handel more, probly a high of 70 max but at that temp it starts to decrease the life of the CPU
Pentiums have a thermal shutdown switch that kicks in around 150 (that video of the guy making a pentium chip explode due to overheating is a hoax).
And as far as i know, AMD's dont have a thermal shutdown switch of any kind. They just fry themselfs. If i remember correctly, they'll go in the neighborhood of 600 celcius
My P4 3Ghz oc'd to 3.19 runs at 28 idle / 36 @ %100 CPU usage
