Hi everyone, my name is Tim. I'm new to the computer moding hobby but I recently built my first computer and now I want to do more!

The past few weeks I've been yearning to play those beloved 8-bit classics like the original Mario, Excite Bike, Punch Out etc. I did a quick search and stumbled upon the vast amount of NES emulators and ROMS then it hit me, why not build a cheap computer specifically to play these games? It would give me a new project but wouldn't cost too much money. Then I started to brainstorm on what kind of case to use and what style I should go with. In my eyes the NES' simplicity is perfection so instead of having various bits that look like the NES I decided to remake the exact NES out of a cube case. Of course I have to give it a little extra character so as an ode to my childhood I decided to make an enclosure for the case out of Legos :D Here is a visual (detailed I know...)

I need your help though. I don't know much about specific computer equipment companies and products. I need help actually putting this thing together but I'm not sure what kind of case I should use or internals. It won't need much since it will only be running these programs but like I said, I don't know too much.

I would like to hear any and every recommendation, idea and/or constructive criticism you guys have for a n00b such as myself.

I just watched ur dad on TV.

Looks good, I look forward to seeing you get that paitn job underway. Although a good mod would be transfiguring a NES controller to a USB so u can game with it.

I planned on using a NES controller via the USB port, hence the slots for them. I'm not sure how to do this but it will all come with research and time.

I have NES power/reset buttons. They are reproduction and absolutely perfect. I'll sell em for 1$ each + shipping.

EPYK, I don't want to mod the original because it's already been done many times and it's just about impossible to find a NES here in Germany. Thanks for the link for the controllers though!

D_Stilgar, can you post pictures of the buttons? I'm very interested in seeing them.

sorry about not getting a pic up yet. I've been busy. Try looking in my NES PC worklog in the worklogs forum. You might find a good pic there. If not, then ask again here and I will get some pics up.
