I think every person who serves the US ARMY should get one of these! For free or at a discounted price that is.

Not saying of course that ONLY the US ARMY should get them... but it does say US on it. :p

I like the front-end, but that paintjob is awful. It looks like some kid's wallpaper.
Urban camo would have a cooler look i think.

That camo looks terrible. I really dont like the case.

Urban Camo would be sweet dave, That's a good idea! I guess they went with traditional colors... eh oh well. It might look not so great, but dont be picky! lol it still looks better than any stock computer, such as Dell. ...AND it most likely performs better than 80-90 percent of the people on this forum. :p lol certainly blows my rig out of the water!
Here is what they should of went with...

Dont start that now... we are all entitled to our own opinions and that is that. I think the camo COULD look better but in all fairness I dont think it looks THAT bad. It really just depends on the person. As you can see. :)

you think they should get free computers because Ibuypower painted the CM Ammo case?

Haha, I haven't a serious bone in my body. And that case is absolutely hilarious.

Yep, they should get free computers because the ammo case was painted.
...
I think what I was trying to imply was that in this day and age where computers are widely accepted as our future, anyone who serves his/her own country should get a nice piece of this future. Now of course we wouldnt be able to afford that... but it is a nice idea I think. But that is all I was implying. A nice idea.

Yeah...it's a bit on the rubbish side. It's the paintjob that's the real let-down though, a decent paintjob and it might not look so bad...

Since everyone already mentioned the paint job... I'll say some other things. I'm personally wouldn't want to pay that much money for that PSU, water cooling setup, and that poor wiring job. Why would I want that wimpy water cooling setup? A single 80 mm radiator doesn't cut it for me. I think the power and reset buttons look stupid too. I hope no one pays $3000 for this!

Uh, people get paid to serve in the military. Hell, I doubt many serious gamers would join the military, and those who do probably have their own nice rig or a different way they want the case to look.
Besides, if somebody wants a computer, they can go out and buy what they want. The idea of the military giving it's members free computers is absurd, honestly, nevertheless something made by a private company for the average consumer.

lol well it looks like people would rather have looks than performance?
Put all that inside a standard dell case and I bet it would be the same price. So what would you choose? The dell or this? I think thats why they did it. Not to make it super awesome and cool.. but just to help make it stand out a bit more.

I think this case is aimed at the kind of morons who measure the performance of a computer by sales speak. For example...they can now boast to their friends that they have a watercooling system in their comp, even though a Zalman would do the job just as well for a half the price. It's like a mid-life crisis case.
Something that guys like us spit on from above to be honest.

Is this computer over priced then? I'm not trying to be sassy or anything like that. I honestly do not know how much the parts inside of this computer would cost a person to make. But I dont think its that badly priced is it? It has a very nice conroe, some decent ram, a pretty good hard drive, etc etc. I didnt think you were paying the price for the water cooling aspect of it. I didnt realize it even had water cooling at first. I thought you were paying for the conroe and ram and GB's and stuff like that...

I know for sure that it has a Core 2 Duo X6800 (at least that is what it says :p ). But there is no mention of what RAM and hard drive is in there (as in what company for example).

Seriously, MitaPi, it's much cheaper to build the same PC yourself (plus get a cooler paintjob).
That's the only way these companies make their monies, by overpricing.
MitaPi
09-11-2006, 11:17 PM
Not everyone knows how to build their own PC though... and that goes for paint too. Isnt that the reason why they overprice?

I can teach somebody to build a PC in about a half hour.

lol I think you are missing the point though? I know alot of people who like to use computers but they could absolutely care less about everything else. They wouldn't make high end PC's if there werent buyers right? It might be loads cheaper to build it yourself... but it's not very convient. Which is why we have companies that build them for us. Right? I might be wrong.. as I often am. So feel free to keep voicing your opinion. They are honestly useful to me.
EDIT:
I just thought of something too.. you could teach someone in a half hour? I dont know if you could teach them EVERYTHING they need to know but I am not going to say you cant because I dont know. But this is what I thought about... you could teach them everything they would need to know, but would they understand? Not everyone can grasp it as well as you can or as someone else can.

I think we are "missing the point" because we can't relate to those buyers. I don't know...

Not everyone can grasp it as well as you can or as someone else can.
I tutor computing for local kids in my free time (for free) and you can really see how someone will grasp an idea like binary counting, when others won't get it at all. Everyone's different though, so coming up with clever analogies that people understand really helps to teach.
It's a very, very valid point. Some people will look at a computer and go "Oh, so that's what RAM looks like" and some will say "Crap, i hope i didn't just void the warranty on that thing..."
I doubt we have anyone in class 2 on these boards.
