Here's a question that has been on my mind for the past few hours. What are Res's for on water cooled PC's? Are they just for show? Are they just for holding coolant? Or do they act like a pressure tank? Any advice would help...

They serve as a spot to release air bubbles from the tubing and also as a spot to fill it up easier than just a fillport.

they can also increase heat loss if they are part of the circulation path by delaying the fluid from imedeatly returning into the block(s).
Similar to the Zalman Reserator 1 v2 (http://www.zalman.co.kr/usa/product/view.asp?idx=206&code=021)
