for LGA775, Asus and Gigabyte
not sure for 939 but go for a board with the Nvidia chipset.

The first generation Intel Dual core chips are shipping now, they should be commercially available in small quantities by the end of the month. The main problem being the boards with the 950 companion chipset are not shipping yet.

i dont think there is a "best" motherboard. everyone has their fav brand, and everyone has different needs with a motherboard, therefore you would get multiple answers. i would say any mobos with nvidia4 chipset are good. and there is always google to look for some reviews on the specific models if you are really interested.

when you are not OCing i would say MSI Neo 4 is great. it has a nice layout and all connections you need. DFI Lanparty is great too but its UV so you might not like it.

The DFI LANParty is great for inducing epileptic seizures.

As for your question what tasks do you use your computer for the most? Performance depends on the task at hand.
Graphic design? go Intel socket T LGA.
Gaming? go AMD 64 socket 939 with an Nforce 4 chipset
