So there's a white washer underneath the label sticker that needs to be removed so you can remove the blades and paint the fan. Online guides all say to remove this washer carefully so you don't break it. I have had NO luck doing this. I've tried it on scrap fans and can't get it off without breaking it. Any ideas/tips for me?

i did this thing to several fans.. no big thing.. the magnetic force usually keeps the fan in place even if mounted with the hub facing down.. and a broken but still functioning washer still.. does the job ;) you shouldn't worry yourself :)
about the not-destroying-the-washer-part: i use two small screw drivers and keep a very cool head :) it always bends a lil, but i can put it back :)

Thanks for the info. I'll try it out and see what happens.
