I've been looking at this CoolIT water cooling system. It's a pre-built box that is extremely easy to install and just cools your cpu. I was wondering if there is anyone here that has heard of it or owns one and if they're heard anything positive or negative about it?

Best regards,

This thing reminds me of the Aquagate mini except this uses Peltiers and the coolant fluid never has to be replaced. NEVER!

I dont feel safe with pelts, and wouldn't recommend them to others

May I ask why? I'll be honest that I don't know anything at all about watercooling and I have no idea what pelts are.

Pelts are Peliter coolers. What they are, essentially, is a pad that electricity is run trhough. One side becomes hot, the other cold. By cooling the hot side, the cold side gets colder to manage an equilibruim temperature. The only downside is that if you don't cool the hot side, the cold side will gain heat, which is bad.

Pelts are Peliter coolers.
PELTIER After Jean Charles Athanase Peltier (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean_Charles_Athanase_Peltier)
It needs to be spelled right or he'll never find the correct links and the next thing we know, we'll have a mink covered CPU because 'pelt' took him to a fur trapping page.

I found this link off wikipedia
An introduction to thermoelectric cooling. (http://www.electronics-cooling.com/Resources/EC_Articles/SEP96/sep96_04.htm)

I didn't read all the print. the diagram shows the basics and the bottom of te article shows a couple real peltier coolers.

The bottom line:
- A peltier uses elecetricity to move heat from one side of a metal alloy to the other
- if you sandwich one between a HOT CPU and a heat sink you can cool better than the HS alone.
- Peltier coolers are powerhogs. they are very ineffecient but...
- Peltier coolers can take you below ambient (beware of condensation)
