Looks like a modem, or at least a communication device (speaker and transfo on it). Any phone jacks, or something on it?

Wait, the picture's there now. Well, it has microprocessors or IC's on it: due to their size, i'd say Micros. It's also got some pretty big resistors, and what looks like a built-in power converter, which would normally lead me down the PSU route.
But it's clearly not, or it would have some large capacitors for stable signaling. So it's some sort of device where a stable signal is not necessary, or it uses small amounts of power.
I'm not sure if the black tube is a speaker. Are the parts to the left microswitches, ports, what? I don't know.
My money's on an external modem, possible an old 28k variety. After another look, i'd put my money on exactly that.

lets see
theres a fuse box on it
the black is not a speaker ill tell you that
there is a red led
its not a modem.
not even any ports
ill give you a better pic later

Interesting.
theres a fuse box on it
So it's powered by the mains i assume.
there is a red led
Could be anything from "I'm on" to a signal...
not even any ports
Bugger.
its not a modem.
Damn.
New Theory: It's someone someone made to annoy folks in the future.
Seriously though, we can look up the manufacturer if we can see the logo-is that USRobotics i see?

i have an interesting ideas.. like a weekly contest to guess what board is what ;) i have some weird stuff i could photo and then try to guess what it is :) bet everybody does..
back on topic: i'm gonna study this :) nice challenge :)
edit:
let the game begin :)

there are some things in the left side i have no idea what those are.. can't make out if they have some levers or buttons on top.. or if they are just boxes..
there are lots of resistors.. maybe for the chips in top middle.. what bugs me is the bigger ones, in the right top... those guys seem like the 0.5W or even 1watt models.. not sure, but maybe them with the transformer and the diodes in the far right (double red) are part of the power circuitry (diodes >> rectifier)... this would also explain the two capacitors, as they should level the wave a bit...
about the i/o.. i think they are located in the lower right corner.. still, picture is very blurry.. for all i know now, it could be anything (except a sound card, video card etc ;) ).. this device is more analog in its nature..
some more info..? a better pic and maybe a pcb back pic?
10ks for giving me something to think about :D

Well that three-pronged plug looks like a fan plug.
Is it a fan controller? Do you have any idea what the round, black thing is?
From these pictures I can tell that what dgrmkr thought was I/O plugs is actually a fuse.

yep.. my bad.. the plugs are all over.. didn't quite see them:redface: the light blinded me
..this thing is really.. that does look like a fan plug.. and looking at the back of the pcb reminds me of old calculator parts (i have some in my closet.. unfortunately, they work.. and some might get upset if i take it apart..)
..a fan implies heat, yet i can't see any mosfets or hi-powered chips.. maybe this whole things connects to something else.. with the big wide connector.. and i think this is a kind of power-supply and those big chips are some sort of voltage regulators.. maybe.. i'm consistently wrong, tho
edit: do the black boxes click when they are powered? cause they could be old-fashion relays...
edit2: the silver things look like more power connectors.. under the black boxes.. and is the big cylinder a motor? maybe...?

it dosnt turn on. has no plug or anything
and the black box im going to open
its just a plastic cylinder with a screw sticking out
so im ganna see

..because of the fuse? that is a car fuse, right? i've never seen a heating control board from a car. so...:?

well i might ship it out to one of you guys XD
could it be a small amplifier for some thing, also it could be to an old mac or something ive seen something like that when i took my imac apart.
or a part to a TV

nobody got it right (i fiqured out what it is)
its an automatic ignition system

How did you figure that out? Did it make a spark or something? lol
Is it from a car or something that runs on gas?

yes its from a car
i found Automatic Ignition System REALLY tiny on the chip

what on god's green earth...
Clearly, it's one of those new fancy cell phones all the teenagers are carrying around these days. Back in my day, we had didn't have gigantic fuses or mystery boxes on our cellular devices, we had to communicate with an array of mulitmedia options, such as text, pictures, or audio. I tell you, kids these days don't know what they have going for them, confound it.
