That's my suggestion.
When I was still living with my folks I needed a gaming headphone and bought the ~100 dollar variety and I loved them all the way up to me moving out and buying a 7.1 surround sound gaming setup.

Sennheiser makes professional audio equipment, I think you will be able to find what you want and in the price range. Their cheapest headphones are 20 bucks.

Lol I paid $5.00 for a pair of folding digital sony headphones.
Works just fine for me.
The problem with headphones is that if you use them a lot, the wires inside the cords eventually wear out from metal fatigue. So they are kind of like a consumable item.

Well I think the wiring for the Sennheiser headphones have kevelar in them. Also yes I would say go for Sennheiser and buy them here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?Order=PRICED&Page=1&Category=37&Nty=1&Brand=1730&N=2010370070+50001730&Submit=ENE&Manufactory=1730&SubCategory=70 keep going down the page and they get cheaper.

maybe not the ultimate, but TDK MP100's. They're like 20$, wonderful bass, and a very long cable. Rather large and comfortable, too.

I use speedlink's medusa headphones. They're in the ~100usd range but they are pretty spiffy. The surround works pretty well and the bass is actually decent even in movies. They don't quite compare to a decent sub, but then you'd probably go deaf.

Arent those like, 5.1?

I am actually REALLY thinking about picking up a pair, my dad has one, and man, that and his X-Fi sounds so awesome.
