i just bought an Nvidia GeForce 7600GS and it has a DVi output, i was wondering what is the use of using the DVI output plug, because my card came with a DVI/VGA adapter.

The DVI/VGA Adapter is so that if your monitor doesn't support DVI you can still use the video card with the adapter.
