Does anyone here know of any device I could buy that would allow me to record off of a VGA cable?

Thanx, Indybird

what are you trying to record? there's some software out there now that does movie captures of the computer screen...although for the life of me i can't remember the name now (real useful, eh? :P)
lots of gamers use it to record "music videos" or other videos of the games they play (leeeeeeeeroy jeeeeenkins, anybody?)

Camtasia Studio can record your screen. i don't think you can record directly off a VGa cable though.

When i was searching for a way to hook up my vid card to my tv i came across a nifty little cable that connects to a vga port with a pass though port so you can still have your monitor connected. It has a standard A/V video off-shute cable. They were about $5 on ebay. You could connect that to any video equipment.

And if i remember correctly, if you connect your monitor to it and use the a/v plug as a video source, you can turn your monitor into a tv. I could be wrong though.

Its sounds like you want to copy something onto your computer from an external source (like a VCR or DVD). Was that your question?

http://www.fraps.com/ will record video of your computer screen but I think it saves it internally to your hard drive. Fraps is a screen/video capture tool. I don't think it will take input from external sources. There is an expansion card you can buy that will allow you to input VCR recording and save them as DVD's. It sold to allow people to port their home movies over. It might work with macrovision but I'm not sure. Was that what you wanted to do?

Thanks for all the suggestions but I guess I wasn't very clear. What I meant to say was do you know of any VGA input devices for the computer?

I know that is a very strange request but I'd like to know.
Thanx, Indybird

um like what? A video camera, a DVD player, and VCR?
You're kind of asking the question backwards. What are you trying to do? once we know that we can help you provide a solution.

Believe it or not I'm not asking the question backwards. Im thinking of something like a TV Tuner card except instead of svideo and video inputs it has a 15-Pin VGA input. Then I'd connect a VGA device (such as a PC or Xbox 360) and record it.

Sorry, theres no real clear way of saying this.
